PROBLEM
SOLUTION
The weight and stiffness of an air hose applies pressure to the wrist and hands of the tool
operator.
This will limit tool manoeuvrability and tire the operator, and can cause Carpel Tunnel
Syndrome, back pain and other injuries. Swivel fittings are designed to limit these effects
and improve worker productivity.

ELIMINATING
When a fitting comes loose from a pressurised hose or when a pressurised hose is
ruptured, the hose starts blowing compressed air in an uncontrollable way. This
causes the hose to whip and can result in:

Damage to work pieces
Dust being blown up from the floor
Small components being blown around

DANGEROUS HOSE WHIP
Hose whip is very dangerous and can reach speeds of
up to 150 km/h. This is why it is imperative that hose
whip be prevented !
ANTI HOSE WHIP SAFETY VALVE
The anti hose whip safety valve is an inline emergency
shutoff valve.
Under normal flow conditions the valve is open.
Under failure conditions, the pressure drop is sufficient to overcome the force of the valve spring and the
valve closes - the air is shut off.
252
TYPICAL INSTALLATION
Anti hose whip safety
valves should be
installed upstream of
the air hose.
As a reminder to shut off the air supply a small
amount of air continues to bleed after shut off at a
rate of 9 SCFM (leaks will be audible).
When the hose is repaired and the compressed air is
switched back on again, the valve repressurizes the
downstream system.
TOPRING
When the pressure on either side
is equalized, the valve opens completely and the system is automatically
reset.

TECH TIP
OSHA standard no. 1926.302(b)(7) states that: « All hoses exceeding
1/2 inch inside diameter shall have a safety device at the source of supply
or branch line to reduce pressure in case of hose failure. » TOPRING anti
hose whip safety valves satisfy this standard.

The biggest challenge with standard type FRL units requiring brass pipe fittings is screwing the unit onto opposing ends of air line
piping (while tightening one end, the other end is being loosened!).

REDUCING WATER IN AIR TOOLS
One of the best ways to avoid water in air tools is to eliminate it at the source, that is, at the compressor.
While this is not the only thing that needs to be done (dryers, filters), elimination of liquid water from the compressor tank is the first
step and will considerably reduce the water that gets into the air distribution system and, as a consequence, the air tools.

CHOOSING AN AIR HOSE FOR
Rubber, PVC, Polyurethane… there exists a multitude of materials for
air hoses and each has its strengths and weaknesses. The proper

The best in tool performance, air system delivery and
operator efficiency will all be wasted if the air hose does not
meet expectations. TOPRING offers air hoses for the
majority of applications.

BLOW GUNS
What do we look for in a blow gun? It has to blow hard!
Blow guns are evaluated based on their output thrust,
usually indicated in pounds of outlet thrust.
Blow gun performance therefore depends on two things:
1. air flow through the gun
2. amplification devices used
AIRPRO VENTURI TIP HIGH FLOW BLOW GUN

1
drawing in ambient air through two side ports.
Increased velocity and volume of air exiting the nozzle boosts available thrust up to 250 %.

2 Should the nozzle tip be blocked, the main air flow
exits through the side ports. Static pressure at the
nozzle tip is held to less than 30 PSI, satisfying OSHA

PERFORMANCE
Just like for blow guns, vacuum performance is a function of air
flow. Suction capacity is measured in inches of mercury, to indicate
the vacuum force that the vacuum unit can produce. Air powered
vacuum units often offer superior performance to other types.
Untangling air hoses
is a waste of time
that affects worker

Air powered vacuum units also overcome other serious shortcomings of industrial electric vacuums by doing away with moving
