The successful candidate will hold lectures and labs and manage student projects in the field of control engineering, and play a key role in developing the curriculum. The relevant subjects are to be
taught as part of the Department's "Electrical Engineering and Information Technology" and "Renewable Energy Systems and Energy Management" Bachelor degree programmes and "Automation"
Masters programme; some classes are to be given in English. The successful candidate will also teach
the "Signals and Systems" foundation course.
Candidates should have recent industry or similar experience in the field of control engineering and
field bus systems.
Candidates should also have methodological and teaching skills in the field and be prepared to attend further training in university teaching.
Candidates should have practical experience of research and development projects in the field of
automation technology. The successful candidate is to run applied research and development projects in the Department laboratories and use his or her business contacts to acquire external funding.

What we expect of our professors:
 To be willing to teach their subject in other faculties or establishments of the university as
part of future development at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences,
 To be able and willing to teach in English
 Extensive practical professional experience in the subject areas indicated
 A particular ability to carry out academic work (normally demonstrated in the form of a good
doctorate)
 social and leadership skills
 Participation in the design and implementation of professional development
 Involvement in application-based research and development activities
 Participation in exchange with our international partner universities
 To be prepared to contribute to the university’s self-administration bodies
 To live near the university
Apart from the general provisions of employment law, professorial appointments are subject to the
employment requirements of Section 15 para. 1-6 of the Hamburg University Law (HmbHG), which

The denomination of the announced appointment stands under the reservation of an examination in
adequate intervals after Section 12 para. 7 HmbHG.
In addition to the basic salary of pay scale W2, performance bonuses may be paid on agreement with
the managing President. A supplementary allowance may also be granted in relation to the acquisition of third-party funding.
Applicants 50 or below at the time of appointment may receive civil servant status; otherwise they
will be employed on a standard basis.
