Public   Hearing   for   environmental   clearance   for   Expansion   Plan   took   place   on   05.11.2012

  at   the   ground   beside   Bansa   High   School,   in   the   presence   of   the   Collector,   Mr.

  Chandra  

Kr   Singh   of   district   Saraykela   Kharsawa.

Jamshedpur   took   part   in   this   public   hearing.

Mr.

  Niraj   Singh,   General   Manager   (Production)   and   Environmental   Consultant   Mr.

 

S.B.Chowdhury

  (Pacific   Scientific   Consultancy   Pvt   Ltd;   14/5   Dumdum,   Cossipore   Road,  

Kolkata)   provided   the   plan   for   the   proposed   Expansion   Plant.

  The   following   will   be   set   up   under   this   plan:  

For   the   above,   2200   KL   water   will   be   used   everyday   which   will   be   procured   from   Chandil  

Dam   .Around

  59   KL   of   effluent   will   be   produced   everyday   which   will   be   treated   appropriately   and   then   re ‐ used.

  To   Control   air   pollution,   Water   Srubber   in   Sinter   Plant,  

Dust   Catcher,   Cyclone   Separator,   Bag   Filter   in   Mini   Blast,     Induction   Furnace ,   Bag   Filter   in   Sponge   Iron   Plant,   ESP,   and   Bag   Filter   in   Coke   Oven   will   be   installed.

  

Ash   produced   during   the   production   process   will   be   either   re ‐ used   in   various   other   processes   like   cement   production,   brick   making   and   road   making   or   its   execution   will   be   stopped.

People   from   Bansa,   Palgaon,   Khuchidih,   Tulgram,   Raidih,   Cchatardih,   Koraburu,  

Nutandih   and   from   Ghanaburu   Panchayat   took   part.

etc   have   expressed   their   fears,   advices,   reactions   about   the   setting   up   of   the   industry   ,   after   the   presentation   on   environmental   impact   study.

Keeping   in   mind   the   expectations   of   the   villagers,   discussions   on   air   pollution   control,   water   pollution   control,   noise   pollution   control   and   tree   plantation   took   place.

 

Discussions   also   took   place   on   the   need   to   sort   out   of   the   complaints   of   villagers   according   to   rules.

  Along   with   it,   they   agreed   that   just   as   development   would   take   place   because   of   this   industry,   environmental   pollution   would   also   increase.

  If   Industry   is   established,   villagers   expect   that   there   will   growth   in   their   income   and   social   structure.

 

They   also   expect   that   they   will   be   provided   medical,   drinking   water   and   other   relevant   facilities   along   with   considerable   financial   gain.

  

 

6.

General   Manager   assured   that   all   necessary   and   better   methods   will   be   adopted   to   keep   environmental   pollution   at   bay.

  He   also   assured   that   health,   education   and   drinking   water   facilities   will   be   provided   to   the   villagers.

  He   said   that   they   wouldn’t   let   the   industry   to   affect   the   villagers   and   environment   in   an   adverse   way.

 

Complaints/problems/social   and   cultural   structure   of   the   local   people   are   been   properly  

  taken   care   of   and   will   also   be   taken   care   of   in   future.

7.

Mr.

  Chandra   Kr   Singh   encouraged   all   the   villagers   to   place   their   opinions   about   the   pros   and   cons   of   setting   up   this   industry   as   well   as   about   the   impact   of   it   on   environment.

  He   asked   the   General   Manager   to   take   required   steps   for   waste   management   with   the   help   of   local   people,   to   take   right   measures   to   control   environmental   pollution   and   also   asked   him   to   assure   the   villagers   that   the   environmental   problems   will   be   properly  

 

  taken   care   of.

  Or   else   they   will   have   to   face   opposition   from   the   local   villagers.

 

8.

List   of   present   officers,   a   list   of   villagers   present,   a   video   CD   of   the   main   part   of   the   public   hearing,   question ‐  answer   session   and   the   handwritten   application   of   the   villagers   are   attached   herein,   for   a   better   understanding.
