MV network management - Easergy range
Flair 200C
PE41015
Communicating fault passage indicator
If you wish to improve the quality of service, the quality of distributed energy
and optimise your operating costs, Flair 200C will come up to your expectations.
Flair 200C is an efficient tool to reduce intervention duration and time to isolate
the faulty cable.
Flair 200C is a product dedicated to MV/LV substations remote monitoring:
it detects the passage of fault current or supply outage and transmits this information
in real time to the control centre and linemen in charge of network operation.
To improve service quality and reduce outages
b Detection of phase-to-phase and phase-to-earth faults
b Detection of outages and voltage drops
b Substation status monitoring: 6 free digital inputs
b Real time transmission of alarms.
b Detection of fault current
and outages
b Transmission of information
to the control centre or by SMS
b Power meter
To improve MV network maintenance and planning
b Detection and storage of transient faults for: quality of service follow-up
b Measurement of load current on the MV network
b Voltage measurement and storage of outages on the LV side of the substation
b Computing active, RMS and reactive power, as well as energy and power factor.
Real time access to the data through various means
b Transmission of information to the control centre
b Transmission of information through SMS messages to a mobile phone.
PE55866
b Free digital inputs/outputs.
Fault currents detection
Detection of phase-to-phase
and earth faults
b Detection of phase-to-phase and earth faults:
v permanent: faults confirmed by sensing time and voltage drop
v transient: storage of phase faults cleared by a fast reclosing and of earth faults
not confirmed by voltage drop.
b Fault confirmation by voltage absence configurable
b Inrush restraint feature to prevent wrong detection due to connection of loads
b Indication reset:
v automatic when voltage is back (Yes/No)
v with a push button on the detector front panel
v after a user-selected time duration
v remotely from the supervision system.
b Faults indication:
v locally by a red LED on the front panel
v outside the substation with an external light indicator (optional)
v remotely through a communication to the control centre.
Voltage presence monitoring
A follow-up of supplied energy
Single phase voltage measurement, on Flair 200C LV supply input, allows indicate
to the remote monitoring system voltage loss and recovery. Voltage absence and
presence detection thresholds are configurable.
Meaningful measurements
Assistance to network planning
b Instantaneous measurements
v phase load current on each phase and residual current I0
v MV or LV voltage
v frequency.
b Computed measurements
v average load current on the MV line (resulting of the three phase currents)
v active, RMS and reactive power
v power factor
v active energy. 4 bytes counter value reset or pre-set locally or remotely.
Digital inputs/outputs allowing substation monitoring
and control
A full MV/LV substation management
Flair 200C is fitted with 6 free digital inputs and 2 relay outputs.
b 6 digital inputs allow to fit specific needs linked to the MV/LV substation operation:
v status of the MV switch fitted with Flair 200C
v MV/LV substation door open
v other substation alarms.
b 2 relay outputs may be used to remote control a substation function.
A relay output can be used to open an MV switch (equipped with switch opening
release and remote rearming coil) straight upstream the fault.
These data may be set as “alarming” to inform the control centre
in case of status change.
Time-stamped data logging of events
Flair 200C can store 150 time-stamped events.
b Permanent faults
b Transient faults
b Outages
b Complementary information: 6 free inputs and 2 free outputs
b Equipment fault
b Configuration modification.
Communication with the control centre
b Modbus communication protocol
b Automatic call on alarms
b Periodic call
b Embedded GSM Modem or RS232 interface
b Compatible with Easergy L500 supervision system.
PE55867EN
Remote alarming by SMS
Flair 200C communicating FPI can be used without remote operation system.
The maintenance team is informed of the occurrence of incidents on the MV network
with a SMS message through the GSM network.
Remote and local configuration
Flair 200C can be configured locally or remotely with the Modbus protocol.
Parameters that are adjustable locally or remotely include:
b Fault Passage Indicators parameters
b Voltage absence and presence thresholds
b Event alarming
b Energy counter pre-set.
Flair 200C accepts 3 current sensors mounting types
b Type A mounting: 3 phase CTs
b Type B mounting: 2 phase CTs and 1 earth CT
b Type C mounting: 1 earth CT (detection of earth faults only).

Sensors
b Flair 200C is compatible with the following current sensors of the Easergy Flair
FPIs range
b Phases CTs
v MF1 and MFH self-locking (to measure phase current)
v self-locking resin CT CTR.
b MFH: earth CT (diameter 130 mm).

Battery backup power supply
Flair 200C power supply is backed up with a Ni-CD battery.
b The backup is able to supply:
v the detector
v the external light indicator BVE
v the GSM modem.
b Backup time: 2 hours with GSM communication.
