In the annex we've provided additional info for about the ALPAS. Joining of the aluminum elements is made via forged parts, thus providing an extremely high flexural strength and torsion proofness. The roof is glued with an aluminum padded plate. The equipment locker floors and the intermediate walls and shelves partially are made from aluminum double padded plate. The equipment lockers are shut by 9 dust-proof and water-tight ZIEGLER shutters. Automatic equipment locker lighting by means of magnetic switches. The fire-fighting equipment is safely and practically stored in these equipment lockers. The inside installation is made variable via aluminum profile. The ALPAS has, in addition to the high rigidity of the structure, the following benefits: A modern system continuously adjustable, flexible manner. Even after many years it is possible to change the layout of the equipment space Optimum corrosion resistance A perfect surface finish Good, reliable shielding and conduction of wire harnesses Weight saving Replacement of damaged panels can be quickly and economically performed. In addition to the lockers on the side there are 6 fold down steps fitted. The motion of these steps are supported by gas springs. When the lockers are folded down, a walkable surface on both sides is created, allowing easy access to the equipment inside the lockers. Technical description Page 5 of 14 Finally the vehicle is fitted with Ziegler Optimal Rolling shutters (ZOR). This basically means that the rolling shutters, when opened, will roll up onto the roof. There they are stored in the roof panel. ZOR has the following advanteges: - More space efficiency inside the locker, since there is no shutter in the top of the locker Cleaner equipment. Any possible dirt on the shutter can not fall into the locker because it is stored in the roof panel Technical description 230 Page 6 of 14 ZIEGLER Fire-fighting pump FPN 10-4.000-2H a b Figure 1: Illustration pump (a) and QH diagram (b) Type: 2-stage centrifugal fire pump FPN 10-4.000-2H Nominal output: 4.000 l/min at 10 bar and 3 m suction height Materials: castings (impeller, pump cover, pump housing) are made from sea- water and foam forming liquid resistant Bronze. Drive: by the vehicle engine via a joint shaft line from the PTO of the vehicle. Installation: in the rear of the vehicle Control: all switchings for pump operation are made at the pump operator’s stand at the centrifugal fire pump. Switching on of the centrifugal fire pump is made in the driver’s cabin by standard PTO switching (chassis) and at the rear side by Ziegler ANS system unit. Technical description Page 7 of 14 Equipment low pressure pump: 4 pressure outlets at the rear lockers (both left and and right), mounted behind the fold down steps. Ball valves 1 foam forming liquid drain on both sides for connecting an external foam generator (mixing device) hydrant inlets DN 65 at the rear pump inlet DN 110 Tank drainage, also used as hand washing tap Hydrant inlets for roofmonitor usage drain cocks at the centrifugal fire pump 4 1 1 2 1 240 Piping All pipings being in contact with foam are corrosion-resistant and made of high quality materials ensuring a long life span. 250 ZIEGLER Rapid intervention unit Quick-intervention unit medium pressure Installation: right-hand and left-hand side, in the rear lockers Type: hose reel with brake being connected with the centrifugal fire pump. The reels are fitted with 60 m nondeformable delivery hose with a coupled Akron style 1717 branchpipe. Operation: Electrical coiling, free-roll unwinding and brake Usage: Both water and foam is possible on the hose reels Technical description 260 Powder installation PLA250 The vehicle is fitted with a 250 kg powder extinguish installation fitted in the front middle of the superstructure. The left and right side is equipped with a hose reel (electrically coiling). See the picture on the side for the actual implementation. 270 Ladder Gantry The right side of the roof is fitted with a ladder gantry which stores a ladder (2x 16 sports). The construction of the gantry is done in such a way that there is no need to make an adaption to the roof, so the inside of the lockers stay fully usable. The left side of the vehicle is fitted with a pull down ladder so it is possible to enter the roof. The roof can be walked on and is provided with a skid proof surface. In addition the roof is fitted with foldable handrails ensuring safe roof access. Page 8 of 14 Technical description 280 Page 9 of 14 Operating panel The pump operating panel is placed in the locker at the rear end. For guarding the vehicle engine the following indicators are fitted: Control light for motor temperature Control light for oil pressure Control light for alternator voltage Fuel gauge level meter For guarding and operating the low presurre side of the pump: Control light for engaged PTO Rev counter for low pressure pump and fitted with an operating hours counter Mano-vacuümmeter from -1 til 25 bar; Manometer from 0 til 25 bar; Optical alarm when pump temperature is 70 ⁰C Gauge for water tank level, including acousitc signal when 25% is left + reset button Pushbutton for PTO Pushbuttons for throttle + and Manometer working pressure vehicle air system Automatic pressure regulating functionallity. The, by the user, pre set pressure stays maintained. When the water consumption increases this functionality will keep the waterpressure steady. It is not neccesary to manually increasre the enigne/pump rotation speed Technical description 290 Page 10 of 14 Roof Monitor On the roof a Akron StreamMaster Electric Monitor 3578 is fitted, capable of delivering water and foam. The monitor is operated by a wireless remote control as shown on the image below. 300 Water and foam tank The vehicle is fitted with a high quality glass fiber reinforced GRP water and foam tank. Capacity: Water tank: Foam tank: 3.000 Liter 500 liter Automatic shut off for both water and foam tank Automatic pump heat control. A pipeline opens automatically at 55 degrees Celsius and pumps 50 liters of water back to the water tank Technical description 310 Page 11 of 14 ZIEGLER Foam system MAD The Mechanical Automatic Dosage unit is designed for an excellent foam delivery. Proportioning of the foam agent is made in constant ratio with the water flow. The proportioning rate can be adjusted to 1, 3 and 6 %. Adjustment of the proportioning rate is made from the pump room. Basic adjustment 3 %. The MAD reacts quickly on variations of the flow rate and always delivers exactly the required quantity of foam concentrate to the ejector pump, maintaining the selected percentage of foam.
