Hazardous areas The importance of Hazardous areas cannot be underestimated. When we come across a weighing application, we are observant enough to notice if the application is in an area where there could potentially be a risk of explosion, and we will ask you as the customer to state whether we are looking at at Atex Zone. As a rule, if we are simply allowed to walk in, with no checks, it is unlikely that we are in an ‘ATEX’ Zone. However, if we are put through various procedural tasks including removal of all electrical equipment/phones and asked to complete induction courses, then we usually take this that we are entering a high risk area. It is the responsibility of you as the customer to inform us as to whether we are in an ATEX zone, and what the Zone classification is. If you as the client are unsure as to you zoning classifications, it is imperative that you gain advise from an independent competent professional who knows the requirements. Hazardous areas are separated into zones. These zones are either for gasses or for powders. From the design of the electronic boards to the production of indicators, load cells, platforms, pallet truck scales,
crane scales, and accessories, PWS & Dini Argeo srl offers a wide range of devices for ATEX zones.
Any equipment installed should be suitable for the zone it is going in, It is imperative that the Atex certification has
been specified by you as the customer, in order for us to specify the correct equipment. We as suppliers, are not able
to advise you as to the classification of your Zones.
Hazardous area clasificaiton was recently updated (1997) ATEX is now the current standard for Hazardous areas. Any
equipment not having the word ATEX on it is most likely old and will not meet the ATEX standard. Customers with any
equipment not displaying the word ‘ATEX’ should obtain quotations for replacement equipment.
