WELCOME FATHER RALPH AS HE VISITS US!
Father Ralph is visiting again this summer and is
celebrating the Masses this weekend at our parish and at
St. Kateri. He will be giving us an update on the Holy
Name of Mary School in Ghana. There are extra
envelopes on the registers in the back of the church for
your donations. Thank you for your continued support of
these students. It is very much appreciated.
ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
Our next Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will be this
Monday, August 3rd immediately following the 8:00 AM
Mass. The adoration will close at 2:00 PM. Please
consider coming and spending an hour in God’s presence.
IMPORTANT CCD TEACHER’S* MEETING:
We will have a Religious Education teacher’s meeting this
Sunday, August 2nd at 9:00 AM to process everyone’s
clearances. Please bring your clearances with you and
there will be another form to fill out in person.
*Notice: If you are interested in teaching one of our
Religious Education Classes, we need a CCD Teacher
for the 7th Grade. Also, we can always use substitute
teachers for our CCD Program to fill in when needed.
Please call the rectory for the details if you are willing
to volunteer.
THE FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION (August 15th)
is not a Holy Day of Obligation this year. However, we
will have a Friday Evening Vigil Mass at 7:00 PM on
August 14th.
MEMORIAL RECEIVED
St. John’s received a special contribution this week in
memory of Matthew D. Ivicic. It was received from
Harold & Jane Hillard. Thank you for remembering our
parish with this memorial donation.

Monday through Wednesday from 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Thursdays during the summer months, until 3:00 PM
Fridays we are always only open until 12:30 PM.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul will sponsor “A Day With
Dr. Scott Hahn”, who is a noted Catholic author and speaker. It
will be held at Bishop Carroll Catholic High School in Ebensburg on Saturday, September 12, 2015, from 8:00 AM - 3:00

MEMORIALS & DONATIONS
We have received a donation of a refrigerator and dishwasher from John & Cora Decker, grandparents of the
Dechow students at St. John School.
We are so appreciative of their donation of these muchneeded appliances for our Pre-K facility.
We have received a donation to the Angel Fund from
Claire and Tracey Benson. This donation will assist with
the tuition of a student(s) attending our school.
We have also received a donation in memory of Matthew “Mick” Ivicic from the Aunt Carrie Kucas Family.
We appreciate the generosity of our alumni and would

Fr. George and Mrs. Tice are
pleased to welcome Mrs. Amber Watson as our new Third
Grade teacher. The diocesan hiring committee was
blessed with an abundance of strong candidates and we
are excited to have Mrs. Watson join our school family.

3rd ANNUAL PAUL WHINNIE MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT - Mark your calendars for Sunday, September
6th at Skytop Golf Course. Mr. Whinnie’s grandchildren
attend our school and monies raised from this tournament
benefit the Paul Whinnie Memorial Scholarship Fund at
St. John School. We are extremely blessed to have the
support of Dr. Carnicella and her family in choosing our
school as the recipient of funds raised from this event.

NEXT MONTH IS HERBIE’S HOME TOWN LOOP TIME!
Our annual Pasta Dinner, Silent Auction and Herbie’s HomeTown Loop Race is just around the corner. There will be a Prerace Pasta Dinner and Silent Auction on Friday, August 14. It
will be held at St.John’s School Auditorium from 4:00 - 8:00 PM
Please come and dine with us, enjoy live music and games and
check out the auction. All are welcome. It’s not just for
runners! Take-outs will be available.
The cost for an adult dinner is $10 and children ages 5-10 pay
$5. Ages 4 and under eat for free.

LORETTO OUTDOOR MASSES FOR THE SUMMER
Outdoor Masses are celebrated every Sunday at 7:00 PM at the
Our Lady of the Alleghenies Shrine in Loretto. The Mass
intentions are for an increase in vocations in the Diocese of
Altoona-Johnstown. All are invited to celebrate the Sunday
Liturgy in this beautiful and prayerful outdoor setting. Bring your
own lawn chair. If it is raining, Mass will be celebrated inside the
Basilica of Saint Michael the Archangel, next to the Shrine. Please
note that the celebration of outdoor Liturgies will conclude on
the Sunday of Labor Day weekend.
