Technical Bulletin TB3400-016 3400 Neck Forming System Issue: 20. 05. 2014 Sheet: 1 of 1 Lubrication Upgrade from Mobilux EP1 to Kluber Microlube GL 261 CATEGORY: Recommended Summary: CarnaudMetalbox Engineering introduce a lubrication upgrade for the 3400 Necker Centralized Grease Lubrication System. Carnaudmetalbox Engineering recommend the replacement of Exxon Mobilux EP1 with Kluber Microlube GL 261 to further extend component life and improve the efficiency of the 3400 Necker Centralized Grease Lubrication System. Benefits of Kluber Microlube GL 261 for Customers 1. Base oil viscosity of 260 mm²/sec means less metal to metal contact and increased component life. 2. An additive package to work in boundary friction and prevent fretting, again effectively increasing component life. 3. Listed as a NSF H2 for applications in food plants. Recommended Action for Customers 1. Run the machine as normal until the Lubrication Low Level warning is displayed on the machine operating console or until there is a minimal level of grease in the Pump Reservoir. 2. Fill the Centralized Grease Lubrication System (2 off on larger machines. See Fig. 1) with Kluber Microlube GL 261 as indicated in the Pump Reservoir Re-fill Procedure detailed in the Operation and Maintenance Lubrication section of your 3400 Necker machine manual. Fig. 1 NOTE: Customers are advised that whilst no detrimental effects arise from mixing Kluber Centralized Grease Lubrication System Microlube GL 261 with the existing lubricant such action should be kept to a minimum where possible. See attached pages for Kluber Microlube GL 261 product information. They also contain special lithium soap and the MICROLUBE additive package, which ensures a wear-free surface finish. Running-in wear is reduced to a minimum. In addition, the MICROLUBE additive package provides protection in the boundary friction regime, thus preventing tribo-corrosion. MICROLUBE GL 261, GL 262 greases have the capacity to absorb high pressures, and they have good anti-corrosion properties. Application MICROLUBE GL 261, GL 262 greases are particularly suitable for low to medium-speed plain and rolling bearings, and for swivel movements and vibrations. Other applications: – linear guides – serrations, multiple spline shafts – small gears, e.g. adjustment gears They are generally suitable for machine elements potentially subject to tribo-corrosion. Application notes MICROLUBE GL 261, GL 262 greases can be precisely applied by brush, spatula, grease gun, and through centralized lubrication systems. Minimum shelf life The minimum shelf life is approx. 36 months if the product is stored in its unopened original container in a dry, frost-free place.
