PT6A-215R1 SERVICE INFORMATION LETTER Subject FASTTM System Activation Applicability All PT6A-140 powered aircraft with FASTTM System installed Introduction This SIL is issued to provide system activation information for the PT6A-140 powered aircraft with FAST Systems installed. The FASTTM system automatically collects data from the Engine and/or Aircraft, calculates Turbine blade Creep usage required for SB1903 TBO extensions, detects and annunciates engine exceedances and The data can be uploaded to a server accessible through the internet either manually via a laptop cable connection or automatically via wireless cellular transmission. The wireless cellular capability provides automated delivery of engine performance data to a centralized database, without operator intervention, provided an active SIM Card is installed to use the wireless cellular transmission feature. P&WC strongly recommends activating the automated data transmission capability as the trend monitoring effectiveness is significantly affected by the timeliness and quality of the data to the data analysis center. Definitions “FASTTM” FAST (Flight Data Acquisition Storage and Transmission) is an onboard communication system designed and certified for FAR Part 25 & Part 23 aircraft. The FASTTM system automatically collects data from the Engine and/or Aircraft and provides automated delivery of engine performance data to a centralized database, without operator intervention, provided an active SIM Card is installed to use the wireless cellular transmission feature. The data can be uploaded to a server accessible through the internet either manually via a laptop cable connection or automatically via wireless cellular transmission. “SIM Card” A SIM (subscriber identity module) card is used in most Mobile and Smart phones today. The SIM card is provided by the cellular network operator to identify the user to the network and thus facilitate the devices access to the provider’s network. “ECTM” (Engine Condition Trend Monitoring) is a process in which changes in certain performance parameters of an engine are analyzed on a regular basis. This is done to help provide early detection of engine performance deterioration due to wear or malfunction of engine components and accessories in order to minimize unplanned downtime and maintenance costs.
