Community Calendar 2011 Annual Report Welcome to Worthington The City of Worthington is bringing life to business and our residential community through a number of exciting projects and initiatives in 2012. We are pleased to highlight these as well as share accomplishments of the previous year through this Annual Report. There are certainly signs in Worthington that the economy is stabilizing. Our primary revenue stream for City services – the income tax – has increased since 2010. While this is largely due to the o.5% increase approved by Worthington voters, there are also signs that business growth has returned. As new development and redevelopment continues to take place as outlined in our Comprehensive Plan, we remain mindful of the importance of maintaining the integrity of our character and the identity of Worthington that is so important to the historic culture of this community. The City continues to focus on ensuring high quality services, facilities and infrastructure for our citizens. You can see this with the new Godown Road Dog Park and renovations to the Indianola Park Playground, as well as a variety of improvements to basic infrastructure – water and sewer lines – throughout the community. We will continue to be cautious with expenditures in the coming years. We will also likely continue to discuss and make operational reductions as we face revenue cuts imposed by the State of Ohio. Our approach to these has and will continue to be thoughtful and deliberate. We will continue to remain focused on the needs of our citizens and customers as the bottom line for such decisions. We believe that our true wealth resides in the people of this community. We are constantly amazed at how many of you selflessly volunteer to make it a better place. This, more than anything, makes Worthington and its neighborhoods an exciting and wonderful place to live. A drive through town shows much progress along both High Street and Wilson Bridge Road. We believe the resurgence of The Shops at Worthington Place combined with the ever-growing vitality of our historic downtown, make As always, we are grateful for the support of our citizens and community Worthington one of the most distinctive destinations in Central Ohio. We are partners and look forward to serving you in 2012. optimistic that our continued efforts will foster long-term economic success along these and other critical corridors. We are grateful to the many businesses, some of which are pictured in this Annual Report, who are making investments in this great community. Louis J.R.
