Q: What is ISSN?
Ans.: ISSN stands for International Standard Serial Number. It is an eight digit number
which identifies periodical publications as such, including electronic serials.
Q: What is peer review?
Ans.: Scholarly peer review is the process of subjecting an author's scholarly work,
research, or ideas to the scrutiny of others who are experts in the same field, before a
paper describing this work is published in a journal. The work may be accepted,
considered acceptable with revisions, or rejected
Q: Is the Journal of The Institution of Engineers (India) peer reviewed and who are
the reviewers?
Ans.: Yes. It is double blind peer reviewed journal.
For every series, there are one Editor-in-Chief, Editorial Board, Editorial Advisory Board
and Eminent Academicians as reviewers. They are persons of international standing with
national and international exposure in paper publications and their published papers have
substantial number of citations.
Q: What is double blind peer review?
Ans.: Neither the author nor the reviewers know each other identities. In order to keep this
process fair and impartial, review process is done without influencing the reputations of
reviewers.
Q: How does the review process work?
Ans.: The review of papers is done through a blind peer review process. All articles
submitted online through the Editorial Manager (EM) are sent to Editor-in-Chief of
individual Journal and on his recommendation, the articles are sent to different Editorial
Board Members/Reviewers after deleting the name(s) of the author(s) for maintaining the
unbiased opinion.
Q: What are procedures for submission of paper?
Ans.:
• Papers should be prepared as per Guidelines and format as described in the following
links and are to be submitted through the Editorial Manager system of Springer for
each Series as detailed in the following links:

• To submit papers in the respective Series, the author(s) has to go to the link and
register himself/herself with the EM system and then have to follow the step-by-step
procedure for submission of paper.
• NO HARD COPIES OF JOURNALS ARE ENTERTAINED FOR PUBLICATION.
Q: What are the probable reasons for any delay in publication?
Ans.: i) Deviation from Guidelines during submission
ii) Delay in resubmission/revisions of articles by author(s) after incorporating the
changes suggested by Editors/Reviewers
iii) Delay in sending the final proof of articles from authors to Springer for publishing
any article in online after acceptance by Editors.
Q: How long do reviews usually take?
Ans.: Minimum for any paper is three months. It may vary depending upon decision of
Editor-in-Chief.
Q: What is the limit on the number of authors for the original research article?
Ans.: Maximum six authors are allowed for any manuscript.
Q: What is Article -processing charges?
Ans.: There is no charge.

Q: How to access the Journals online?
Ans.: The Corporate Members of IE(I) have free e-access to all the Journals
Following steps are to be followed:
i) Go to www.ieindia.org and click on “Log In”
ii) If you are already registered with IE(I) put your Membership No. and password at
the designated spaces under “Member Login”.
iii) If you are not yet registered, you have to obtain password by providing your
membership number and clicking on “Get Password”
iv) After you log in as a corporate member of IE(I), click on “View Journals” under the
Member Area.
