The apartment is included with fire alarms required by the
law. The fire alarms are connected directly to the fire
department. Smoking is strictly forbidden in the flats and
common areas, such as hallways and staircases, saunas
and common rooms.
The kitchen includes a stove, a sink, a cooker hood which
is connected to the building’s ventilation system (please
note that the hood is not equipped with an extractor fan),
and a refrigerator-chiller or a refrigerator-freezer.
WHERE CAN I FIND
INFORMATION FOR CLEANING
AND MAINTENTAINING MY
APARTMENT?
You as a tenant are resposible for the operating
condition of the alarms. Faulty of unfunctioning fire
alarms must be informed by a fault report. It is not
allowed for you to take the fire alarm out of it’s place,
cover it or to remove it from it’s power source.
HOW CAN I REPORT A FAULT?
Please report any faults or deficiencies that you may
notice in your flat on the TOAS website at www.toas.fi
through the ‘Reporting a fault’ section.
Information on cleaning and maintaining the apartment
and it’s appliances can be found from the cleaning cabinet.
WHAT KINDS OF WASHING
MACHINES CAN I BRING TO MY
FLAT?
You are not able to install a laundy machine or dishwasher
in you apartment. You may use the laundry facilities in the
basement.
WHAT MAY I ATTACH TO THE
WALLS?
As a general rule, any sort of drilling into or attachments
and changes to the structures of the apartment are not
allowed. Should you make damages to the structures or
surfaces of the apartment, prepare that the repairs will be
deducted form your deposit. You may use separatly sold
hooks which are ment for picture hanging but please
remember to keep it in moderate level!
WHAT TYPES OF LIGHT
FIXTURES ARE PROVIDED IN MY
HOME?
Your flat is equipped with all light fixtures. Any broken light
bulbs will be bought and changed by the tenant.
WHEN AND HOW SHOULD I PAY
THE RENT?
The date on which your monthly rent is due is the
6th day of that month. You should pay the rent using the
bill you received when signing the rental agreement.
Please make sure to always use the reference number
when paying your rent. In any unclear issues relating to
your rent, please contact our rental matters as soon as
possible.

WHEN CAN I MOVE IN?
You can start moving in on the first working day
(Mon–Fri) of the month.
WHERE AND HOW CAN I GET
THE KEY?
You can collect the key to your apartment from our
Housing Office, located at Iidesaukio I, as of the first working day of the month your tenancy agreement
begins.
Please bring your ID card when you collect the key.
HOW SHOULD I MAKE A
CHANGE OF ADDRESS?
Make sure that your mail reaches you! Fill in a change
of address notification at a post office or online. Please
see www.posti.fi. You do not have to inform the
maintenance company about you moving in.
WHAT IS TOASnet AND HOW
CAN I GET IT WORKING IN MY
FLAT? CAN I WATCH CABLE TV?
TOASnet is a fast and fixed Internet connection
available in all TOAS flats. It is ready to use by plugging
in your computer’s network cable to the network wall
socket. You can also watch cable TV in your apartment.
HOW CAN I PROTECT MYSELF
AGAINST DAMAGE?
ARE THERE LAUNDRY AND
SAUNA FACILITIES?
Home insurance is important for all homes, and a
student’s home is no exception.
Tenants are responsible for their own household
appliances and for connecting and installing them. If
an appliance causes damage requiring repairs to the
flat, the tenant is liable to compensate TOAS for the
costs incurred.
To protect your own property and yourself against
such damage, TOAS recommends that you take out
home insurance. Typical examples of damage to flats
include water damage, which in many cases is not
confined to the tenant’s own flat. An incorrectly
connected dishwasher or falling asleep in the shower,
for example, could end up costing you dearly.
Don’t forget to take out home insurance – you can get
living security for as little as just over a hundred euro
per year!
There sure are! Both the laundry room and sauna are
locatedin the basement floor. You may reserve laundry
turns in the calendar at the laundry room and for the
sauna from the list on the sauna door.

WHICH IS THE MAINTENANCE
COMPANY OF MY BUILDING?
You can find information about your property
maintenance company on the notice boards and on
the front door of the building. Property maintenance
companies provide a 24-hour on-call service.
HOW HAS WASTE
MANAGEMENT BEEN
ARRANGED?
TOAS buildings have waste collection points with
waste disposal units for different types of household
waste.You can find the waste collection units on the
ground floor in A-block.
IS THERE A COMMON ROOM
FOR TENANTS?
Yes there is. The common room can be found from the
basement floor.
CAN I INFLUENCE IN WHAT
GOES ON IN THE BUILDING?
By participating in tenant activities you may influence
in things that go on in your building. There is a tenant
commitee in your building which you are free to join.
TOAS supports tenant collaboration by allocating funds
for this purpose every year. Tenant committees can
decide how to spend the funds allocated to their
respective sites on joint activities or purchases. Each
tenant committee selects some of its members as
representatives to the TOAS board of tenant
committees, which is the voice of all TOAS tenants when
communicating with TOAS’ decision-makers.
WHAT IS MY BUILDING’S
RESCUE PLAN LIKE?
The building-specific emergency and rescue plans for
accidents and emergencies for each TOAS housing
location are available on the TOAS website. Please read
the emergency and rescue plan on your location’s page.
WHAT STORAGE FACILITIES
ARE AVAILABLE IN MY
BUILDING?
There are no apartment-based property storages. If you
require a property storage, please be in contact with the
housing office so you can be added on the queue. The
storages are located in the basement floor.
Please note that you are not allowed to take a storage
space on yourself without the permission of the housing
office.
The sports gear storage is also located in the same
space.
HOW DO I GET MY NAME ON
THE LIST OF TENANTS AND MY
DOOR?

Your name will be added to the list of tenants in your
hallway by the beginning of the second month of your
tenancy. You may stick a name tag on the slip next to
your flat’s door, which is easy to remove without leaving
any stains when you move out.

DISTURBANCES IN THE
BUILDING?
The building has general rules and regulations which
every tenant must comply with. These can be found on
the inside of the cleaning cupboard door and TOAS’
website. In case of threatening disruptions or
disturbance, you should contact the police
by calling 112.
HOW CAN I GET A PARKING
SPACE?
As a tenant of this location, you may use the
“Tullinparkki”parking hall. Ask our Housing Office
about availabilities. Please note that due to fire safety
regulations, it is absolutely forbidden to park anywhere
else, than on an indicated parking space.

LOCATION?
All apartments are equipped with a door phones to

The flats are equipped with a fire alarm system that is
connected to the fire department. Smoking is strictly
forbidden in the flats and common areas, such as
hallways and staircases, saunas and common rooms.
The bar/restaurant “Passion” and a lunch restaurant
located on the building ground floor.
Tenants can use the TOAS gym in the location 155
City, Tuomiokirkonkatu 19 free of charge. You need to
register your fingerprint in the housing office to get
access to the gym.
Local groceries: M-Vapriikki on Verstaankatu in appr.
200 meters and Siwa in appr. 400 meters on Lapintie.
Other services: Museum Centre Vapriikki in the
Tampella area in appr. 300 meters.
Bus connections: Line 24 passes to the city centre and
Hervanta. Most bus lines commute through
Hämeenkatu, appr. 1 km away.
