.842 save percentage and Euler is 2-0 at 0.73 and
.750, respectively ... North Carolina’s lone blemish
to a perfect record is a 1-1 draw with William & Mary.
FRIENDLY FOES

the opposite side of the ball Friday night as former
club teammates square off ... Jordan McCrary of
North Carolina and Duke redshirt senior transfers
Tyler Hilliard and Mitch Kupstas all were teammates
on the Concorde Fire ... Duke’s Cameron Moseley
also played for the same coach a couple of years
behind ... Tar Heel sophomore Alan Winn and Duke

Solar Chelsea Academy program, while Duke’s Cody
Brinkman and Evan Krause played for the CASL

DUKE VS. UNC BOUND TO BE A CLOSE ONE
It may be a cliché, but you can throw out the records
when Duke and UNC meet on the soccer field ... In
87 meetings, 44 of the games have been decided
by one goal and 10 have resulted in ties, which is 62
percent of the games between the rivals ... Duke’s

times since 1990 – 31 meetings – has either team
won by more than a single goal.

and all of the 2014 to various injuries, but is fully
healthy in his home stretch.
SOPHOMORES LEAVING THEIR MARK
The talented group of sophomores continue to have
a major impact on the Blue Devils ... At least six of

SURGING SOPHOMORE DUO
While a large chunk of the current sophomores saw
a lot of playing time as rookies, the duo of Macario
Hing-Glover and Carter Manley combined for just 76
minutes in a total of seven games played between
the two of them ... After a summer of playing in the
NPSL and PDL, respectively, they both have earned
starting roles for the Blue Devils and have already
played 10 times the amount of minutes they did as
rookies.
MATHERS AND EBOBISSE ON TOP 100 LIST

Ebobisse both were voted among the top 100
players in the nation by Top Drawer Soccer ...
Mathers came in at No. 50, while Ebobisse was 91st
on the list ... Mathers is a two-time All-ACC honoree,
while Ebobisse looks to have a breakout sophomore
season after a solid rookie campaign ... Top Drawer
also ranked Mathers 13th in the ACC.
BACKLINE GIVES DUKE OFFENSIVE PUNCH
Duke’s stalwart backline has been equally as
dangerous in the attacking third of the field ... The
group of five defenders has 11 points on the year
from three goals and five assists ... All of the goals
have come off of corner kicks, which came off the
head of Markus Fjørtoft (2) and Tyler Hilliard (1) ...
Duke received 13 points (5g, 3a) from defenders in
2014.

The Blue Devils have six players hailing from
outside the United States and three from outside
North America ... Brody Huitema, Kevon Black and
Oliver Spring all come from Canada, while Markus
Fjørtoft and Torbjørn Alseth are natives of Norway
... Ciaran McKenna rounds out the bunch as a
Scottish citizen ... Both Huitema and Black have
international experience with the Canadian youth
programs ... McKenna turned down a contract offer
from his hometown club of Celtic to pursue college
soccer in the United States ... Alseth’s family is well
versed in America’s university system as his brother
is a junior on the Syracuse men’s soccer team.
BLACK REPRESENTS TEAM CANADA
Sophomore Kevon Black represented the Canadian
U23 national team at the Pan American Games in
Toronto over the summer ... Black was one of the
youngest players selected to the squad and started
and played the full 90 in the back for his home
nation.
NEXT UP
The Blue Devils resume midweek play Tuesday at
Davidson ... Kickoff against the Wildcats is set for
7 p.m.
