With more than a century of experience in building fine firearms, the gunmakers of Krieghoff
have very well-developed ideas of what a modern rifle should offer, for they are not only superb
craftsmen and engineers but also avid hunters with a passion for their sport.
Over the years they have established a superb reputation for technical innovation and have set
new standards of quality, safety, reliability, and accuracy. In the development of the Krieghoff
Classic double rifle, their innovative spirit is coupled with a commitment to their fellow hunters

The CLASSIC is endowed with the graceful but powerful lines of the classic English double rifle,
but it is set apart by a trio of design features that make it absolutely unique among double guns
and give it a level of versatility and reliability that is unsurpassed.
It is the first and only double rifle which features Krieghoff’s twin hammer Combo-Cocking
device, which provides the ultimate in safety without sacrificing speed or handling.
The Krieghoff Universal-Trigger-System, which all of Krieghoff’s modern hunting guns have,
provides crisp trigger pulls more typical in a fine shotgun than a large caliber rifle.
And the wide range of barrel configurations and calibers give the Classic an unprecedented
range of versatility. The standard model is ideal for traditional stalking and mid-size game.
The Big Five is built to handle Nitro Express loads and is the choice for dangerous game. With
a quick change of barrels the CLASSIC becomes a traditional Cape gun combination with
side-by-side rifle and shotgun barrels or a sweet handling 20 bore side-by-side shotgun. With
this kind of versatility, the CLASSIC is as at home in your native forests and fields as it is on an

A TRULY UNIVERSAL RIFLE FOR PRACTICAL USE.
Every serious hunter, regardless of his quarry, has in mind an ideal
rifle. And although the details may vary with individual preferences
and experience – at the heart of that ideal must be the ultimate
working gun – a highly functional tool perfectly suited for its
intended use. At Krieghoff our most important goal is to provide
a down-to-earth working gun that can be tailored to the fulfil the
requirements and expectations of each individual customer. The
essential qualities of a great working gun, regardless of cost or
cosmetics, are safety; superb handling; and fine triggers.
THE KRIEGHOFF TWIN-HAMMER COMBI-COCKING DEVICE:
THE ULTIMATE IN SAFETY.
Krieghoff has equipped the CLASSIC with a manual cocking device that
combines the speed of a self-cocking rifle with the ultimate in safety.
The combi-cocking device is quick and convenient to use and operates
very much like a conventional safety.
An uncocked gun is a safe gun. You carry the CLASSIC with the hammers uncocked – the safest position since there is no chance of an
accidental discharge. When you are ready to fire, you cock the rifle
with a single, smooth, quiet movement of the cocking device, which
is located on the top tang, in the position usually occupied by a
conventional safety. As long as the combi-cocking device is left in the
forward, cocked position, both hammers of the CLASSIC are re-cocked
upon opening, and the rifle is ready to fire immediately when it is
closed, as with any self-cocking rifle.
If you do not make your shot, you simply uncock the Classic by pushing the cocking device all the way forward to disengage it and allowing
it to slide back into the uncocked, safe position. This is of utmost
importance in the pursuit of dangerous game because you can carry
your rifle with absolute confidence in its safety--it is fully loaded
but uncocked--and secure in the knowledge that it can be put to use
almost instantaneously in the event of a charge.
The combi-cocking device is equally useful when shooting driven
European game, where quick, accurate shooting is required and an
extra margin of safety is most welcome.

THE PATENTED KRIEGHOFF UNIVERSAL-TRIGGER-SYSTEM
To create what many consider the finest trigger system available in any
modern combination gun, Krieghoff has developed and patented its
Universal-Trigger-System. It is used in all of Krieghoff modern hunting
guns – rifles, drillings, and combination guns – and provides, as
the name implies, universally desirable trigger qualities suited to all
hunting applications.
Large caliber double rifles, for example, have often been plagued by
heavy trigger pulls, which are used to prevent the doubling that can be
caused by their substantial recoil. The unique design of the Krieghoff
system prevents doubling in even the biggest bore rifle while at the
same time providing crisp, clean three-and-one-half to four pound
(1.5–1.8kg) trigger pulls, reminiscent of the best sidelock.
The Krieghoff trigger system is also designed to accommodate an
optional ‘hair’ or ‘set’ trigger. Though not available on the CLASSIC
”Big Five”, it is standard on other CLASSIC models. When you set the
hair trigger it makes the trigger pull extremely light so that the rifle
will fire with a very slight touch of the trigger. It is meant for use
only under strictly controlled circumstances--precision shooting for
a bench rest or taking game from a stand or other fixed position.
Krieghoff strongly recommends that if you choose the hair trigger, you
also order the optional, automatic hair trigger release for an extra
measure of safety. The rear trigger of the CLASSIC can also be equipped
with a hair trigger feature. A single trigger is available at an additional
charge for CLASSIC rifles in calibers of 9.3x74R and smaller.

CLASSIC DOUBLE RIFLE – STANDARD CALIBERS
The side-by-side double rifle has always had a very special
place in hunting lore. Forever associated with big calibers
and dangerous African game, it is quite possibly the
most legendary of all the sporting arms of the world.
The Krieghoff CLASSIC lives up to its name and is a
brilliant, modern addition to a great and venerable tradition.
Although useful for other applications, big bore calibers
are the true domain of the side-by-side rifle. The Krieghoff
CLASSIC has a compact, streamlined appearance and a wellbalanced and very solid feel. The twin-hammer CombiCocking Device and the Universal-Trigger-System provide the
CLASSIC with maximum versatility.

When the window of opportunity is small and speed counts, an optional single trigger might provide the edge. Driven game and many other
hunting situations give you little time but require full concentration
for precise aim and shot placement. The Krieghoff single trigger is
robust and reliable. It operates mechanically, independent of recoil,
and is very crisp. The single trigger is factory adjusted to the same
3 1/2 - 4 pound (1500 – 1800g) trigger pulls as the standard double
triggers. For special applications, such as long range shooting where
substantial precision is required, the single trigger features a hair
trigger combination. An optional hair trigger can even be provided for
the second barrel. The Krieghoff single trigger is located further back
and can therefore also be safely operated when wearing
gloves.

See-Through sight is a
popular optional add-on for
the CLASSIC rifle that has
been well proven in the field.
It is simply a thin metal
frame the size and shape of a
rear iron sight that sits in its
place. You use the outline of
the sight to take aim at your quarry, but at the same time you
can see the quarry through the frame. As a further visual aid in difficult light conditions, the middle sight and front sight feature highly
visible markings in bright orange-red for quickest reference and most
accurate aim.
The single trigger and the see-through sight are a perfect combination
for shooting driven game where the quick, almost instinctive but still
controlled shot can mean the difference between success and failure.

The side-by-side rifle is inextricably linked in both history and
lore with large calibers and dangerous game. In a life-or-death
situation at close quarters, the best rifle is the one that points

The standard sights on the CLASSIC ”Big Five” are a shallow V-shaped
rear sight with a white, vertical, middle line and a pearl front sight.
An optional Super-Express Sight is also available featuring a

The CLASSIC ”Big Five” butt stock
is designed specifically for shooting
big bore calibers over open sights. It is beefier, has a fairly straight
comb, and features a conventional ”Monte-Carlo” style cheekpiece
with shadow line and a generously sized ”Old English” decelerator
recoil pad for shooting
comfort. The pistol grip has been designed to allow a quick,
easy transition from the front trigger to the rear trigger.
The forearm wraps the big bore barrels perfectly, providing a
firm and comfortable grip.
CLASSIC ”Big Five” calibers available range from .375 to .500 Nitro
Express.
The barrels in .375 – a caliber with flat trajectory and longer range –
feature Krieghoff’s adjustable muzzle wedge integrated into the front
sight ramp. This allows you to re-regulate and fine-tune the point-ofimpact to suit your specific needs without ever having to re-solder or
re-blue the barrels. The CLASSIC ”Big Five” barrels in calibers larger
than .375 feature a conventional, soldered wedge for added rigidity.
The advantages and the ”ultimate safety” aspect of the Krieghoff
Combi-Cocking Device are nowhere more apparent than during the
exciting moments in pursuit of dangerous game. This superior technical feature provides valuable safety in difficult terrain and unpredictable situations. Standard on all CLASSICs, the Combi-Cocking Device
allows you to carry the rifle fully loaded, but uncocked and therefore
perfectly safe. When you are ready to fire, you cock the rifle with
a single, smooth movement of the manual cocking device, which
is located on the top tang, in the position usually occupied by a
conventional safety. The added combi feature recocks the CLASSIC
upon opening just like a conventional self-cocking rifle and allows
you to reload and fire as quickly as possible in a dangerous situation.
These features have made the CLASSIC ”Big Five” a very popular choice
among professional hunters and their most knowledgeable clients.

The designation says it all. It is a 3 1/4” .500 caliber case and a
.416 bullet – components which are popular throughout the world

on dangerous game – similar to the famed .416 Rigby, but with
the advantages of a flanged cartridge. The .500/.416 N.E. provides
maximum effectiveness with moderate pressure and has become a
caliber of choice for the experienced safari hunter. The combination
of high energy and flat trajectory increases the effective range of the
.500/.416 and makes it an excellent cartridge for use at longer ranges
with a scope.

RICH WOOD AND THE ART OF ENGRAVING
Krieghoff maintains a large inventory of walnut stock blanks in a wide
range of quality. We are able to offer our customers a choice of wood
upgrades – from affordable mid-grade to the very best, deluxe grades.
The rich grain flow of a hand-selected piece of wood will enhance any
gun regardless of its grade or amount of engraving. On request, our
stockmakers can build a stock to custom dimensions. In addition
we offer a number of optional embellishments including several
styles of checkering and border carving; pistol grip caps made
from metal and exotic wood; and hand-rubbed stock finish.
The history of firearms engraving is as old as the history of firearms
making. For some, the addition of engraving is a simple finishing
touch, for others, it may be the most elaborate custom design. In either
case, the engraving must be a direct reflection of the gun’s inherent
quality. Krieghoff’s staff of fine engravers offers a wide variety of
styles. Full custom engraving to your individual wishes, ranging
from simple variations of classic motives to completely unique

the accuracy of any rifle. Give careful consideration to your
choice of scope and mounts to get the most out of your CLASSIC.
Suitable gun cases for the CLASSIC: Functional, sturdy, and nice
looking.
The rib on the CLASSIC is specially designed for the easy installation
of a Bridge Pivot Mount. Krieghoff offers factory installation of scopes,
and ring mounts as well as bridge mounts are available. All mounts
are rugged and reliable and allow the scope to be mounted low over
the receiver for fast, accurate shooting. They are all quick-detachable
as well and will keep the scope zeroed even after extensive use. Both
scopes with or without mounting rail can be easily installed.
