The Course Organization
• Weekly lecture presented by a lecturer skilled in
electronics and use of test instruments.
• Students meet weekly as a complete freshman
class, developing a sense of class community
• Students provided the opportunity, and
encouraged to explore and tinker on their own.
• Online video teaching assistant introduces
students to online learning styles.
• Anytime, anywhere, philosophy for self
exploration means students are fully engaged .

MOSFET Characterization Using the PTL as a Curve Tracer
The Analog Discovery Module can be configured to emulate a
semiconductor curve tracer! By using specific combinations of the
AWGs, Scopes, Voltage Supplies, and measurement techniques we
can create an instrument that measures and plots the dc currentvoltage characteristics of a semiconductor device

Amplitude Modulation Using PTL’s Waveform Generators
The Analog Discovery Module’s ability to both generate and observe
signals makes it ideal for testing cause and effect communication
circuits. The Arbitrary Waveform generator has the ability to generate
custom audio files including music files in .wav format

A 1 kHz sine wave with added Gaussian noise is
generated in Matlab and then sent to the Analog
Discovery AWG. The AD scope captures the signal
and passes it to MATLAB for Post Processing. The
final signal recovered with a Finite Impulse
Response Band-Pass Filter .
