Instructions:
Enter the thickness minimum and upper tolerance in the appropriate positions- note that the min and tol must come from the "GaugeTolerances" sheet of this workbook.
Note 1: Enter a space for this character if only one digit is needed.
Note 2: Enter the word COIL if this is a coil
Note 3: Enter a space if only 2 Digits are needed, 2 spaces if only 1 digit is needed.
Note 4: See the individual 555 spec of the material to determine the standard Material type and grade information to be entered here. If none
exists for this material contact Judy Ziol and have one set up.
Note 5: Only enter hardness specifications where absolutely necessary. Any Rockwell harder or softer than standard mill issue will be a more
expensive.
Note 6: If there are more requirements that must be stated than can fit in the available space following this format, place "SEE DWG" in these
positions. In this case, a drawing of the material must be created and must accompany the purchase order each time the material is ordered.
This condition is to be avoided whenever possible. See known "SEE DWG" entries for examples.
Note 7: For CRCQ, only specify oil weight if absolutely necessary. CRCQ always comes oiled per ASTM spec A1008.
Note 8: See the "ABBREVIATIONS" sheet of this workbook for a listing of standard abbreviations that may be used in this area.
See sheet 555000 for specific configuration tolerances.

Meaning
Material grain must run opposite of standard, that is, parallel to the width
rather than the length of the sheet.
Chem treat dry
No chem treat, dry
Not chemically treated
Square, indicates that there is a squareness tolerance for a CTS sheet,
tolerance must be included. Example: SQ+-.015
Indicates that a CAD drawing for this part must be used when ordering
due to special shapes, tolerances or other factors.

MAYSTEEL SPECIFICATION 555000
SPECIFICATIONS FOR STOCK SHEET, CUT-TO-SIZE SHEETS, AND COIL MATERIAL
1
SPECIFICATION:
SURFACE CRITERIA: TO BE FREE OF BLEMISHES, IMPERFECTIONS, PIT MARKS, RUST,
LAMINATIONS, COIL BREAKS, EDGE BREAKS, ORANGE PEEL, AND OTHER COMMON VISIBLE
IMPERFECTIONS VISIBLE TO THE UNAIDED EYE.
RUST (INTERIOR OR RUNNER), STRAPPING DAMAGE, OR BENT CORNERS MUST BE REPORTED
WITHIN 60 DAYS OF RECEIPT OF MATERIAL BY MAYSTEEL.
2
STRESS-STRAIN: MATERIAL TO HAVE MINIMAL RESIDUAL STRESS OR STRAIN BEFORE OR THAT
BECOME EVIDENT AFTER ANY FABRICATION PROCESS IS PERFORMED.
3
FLATNESS: (EDGE WAVE, CENTER BUCKLE, OIL CAN, COIL SET, TRANSVERSE BOW) PLANE LINE IS
ESTABLISHED BY CONTACT WITH A SURFACE PLATE. SURFACES MUST BE FLAT OVER ENTIRE
AREA AS FOLLOWS, UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED ON DRAWING.
TOLERANCE = .002 INCH X MEASURING LENGTH INCHES
MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE .25 INCH
NOTE: MEASURING LENGTH CAN PERTAIN TO ANY AREA WITHIN A GIVEN SHEET.
EXAMPLE:
A) 40.00" LENGTH:
4
(.002 X 40) = .080
SQUARENESS: APPLIES TO CUT-TO-SIZE BLANKS, UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED ON DRAWING.
NOTE: CHECKED BY TAKING THE DIFFERENCE OF DIAGONAL DIMENSIONS AND DIVIDING THAT
AMOUNT BY 2.
TOLERANCE = .0012 INCH X WIDTH (SMALLER DIMENSION OF CTS BLANK)
MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE = .062 INCH
EXAMPLE 30 X 40 INCH CTS BLANK:
A) (.0012 X 30) = +/-.036
5
STRAIGHTNESS / CAMBER: (CTS BLANKS AND COILS) SPECIFICATION APPLIES UNLESS
OTHERWISE SPECIFIED ON DRAWING.
NOTE: MEASURING LENGTH CAN PERTAIN TO ANY AREA ON AN EDGE
TOLERANCE = .0013 INCH X MEASURING LENGTH INCH
EXAMPLE 30" LENGTH:
A) (.0013 X 30) = .039 INCH
6
WIDTH TOLERANCE: (CTS BLANKS AND COILS)
IF THE WIDTH OF THE SHEET FALLS INTO A STANDARD MILL PATTERN SHEET SIZE (36, 48, 60, 72,
84), THE WIDTH TOLERANCE IS +.187 / -.000. IF A TIGHTER WIDTH TOLERANCE IS REQUIRED, IT
MUST BE SPECIFIED IN EITHER THE MACPAC DESCRIPTION OR ON A PART DRAWING WITH AN
ACCOMPANYING "SEE DWG" NOTE IN THE MACPAC DESCRIPTION.
IF THE WIDTH OF THE SHEET DOES NOT FALL INTO A STANDARD MILL PATTERN SHEET SIZE, THE
FOLLOWING TABLE OF TOLERANCES APPLIES:
MATERIAL
.020" THRU .090" THICKNESS, ALL WIDTHS
OVER .090" THICKNESS UP TO 30" WIDE
OVER .090" THICKNESS OVER 30" WIDE
