It is both flexible and robust to meet the needs of the modern soldier. High Gain Antenna GPS Antenna GPS Antenna The SSR Plus radio incorporates a GPS receiver to obtain own positional data and to send this to all other members of the net. The GPS Antenna is physically a small robust removable element mounted on the top face of the radio. It employs a helical antenna construction to give a hemispherical skyward facing antenna pattern. Programming tools The programming equipment comprises hardware and software components that enable operational personnel to configure the radio equipment for the combat mission. Two tools are provided. The Network Management Tool enables signals personnel to select and manage the operational parameters of the radio equipment, whilst the Radio Load Tool enables operational personnel to load these parameters into individual radios. level. The tool is designed to operate on a PC platform under a Windows-based environment. It is compatible with both Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Key Generation Tool The Key Generation Tool is a software application that enables the Communications Planner to generate the radio encryption keys required for a Com-Plan. The Key Generation Tool can be used separately to the Network Planning Tool or can be combined with it. It is designed to run on a PC platform under a Windows-based environment and is compatible with both Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Radio Loader Software The Radio Loader is a software application that can take both the Radio Configuration Data, generated by the Network Planning Tool, and the Encryption Keys, generated by the Key Generation Tool, and pass it to the SSR Plus radio. The Radio Loader will run on a Windows Mobile 5 operating system and is expected to be hosted on a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) or similar portable device. In-The-Ear hearing protection Network Planning Tool The Network Planning Tool is a software application that allows the Communications Planner to simply and effectively manage the network infrastructure, and to generate the radio configurations to fulfil the strategic operations at Company The newly launched In-The-Ear (ITE) hearing protection system is the next generation of hearing protection headsets fully integrated with the proven, in-service Personnel Role Radio (PRR and EZPRR) and the CTX radio interface. A range of modular products have being specifically designed to support the ITE hearing protection system. This modular approach provides dismounted and mounted soldiers with multiple radio and platform interface capabilities. Each product within the range uses the latest digital signal processing technology. This ensures the highest quality natural Situational Awareness, and clarity of transmit and receive audio, in demanding and high noise environments, whilst ensuring speech intelligibility, so voices are recognisable in the heat of battle. Power management Interoperability Battery Charger, 6-Way Speaker Microphone TacMic CT7 ES The TacMic CT7 ES is an innovative tactical speaker microphone, which is designed to enhance communications performance in counterterrorist, conventional and bio-chemical operations. The Battery Charger, 6-Way is capable of individually charging up to six SSR Plus batteries. It is designed for use in demanding military environments and is able to operate worldwide from a DC vehicle supply at 12V or 28V. It can also operate from an AC single-phase supply at 115/230V 60/50Hz. This fully ruggedised design comprises an internal speaker, microphone, two PTT switches allowing two separate Nets to be worked via SSR Plus, 3-way VOX selector and volume control. A capped connector is provided for use with an external headset. The VOX function may be selected for use on either SSR Plus Net or disabled. A heavy-duty clothing clip is provided on the back of the TacMic. There is a fixed 700mm long downlead from the base of the unit, allowing connection to SSR Plus. Rechargeable Battery Picatinny Rail Adaptor for Wireless PTT A high capacity Lithium Ionbased rechargeable battery pack is provided to power the SSR Plus radio and the rest of the items in the man-worn system. This battery pack has been designed to be easily removable from the radio and to facilitate quick replacement when used in the field, or at night. A Picatinny Rail adaptor is available for fixing the Dual Wireless PTT to the user’s firearm equipped with the Picatinny standardised mounting system. This allows the Wireless PTT to be located in the best possible position for the individual user and their particular model of firearm. The body is manufactured from black anodised aluminium alloy, and may be operated in full cold-weather and NBC protective clothing. The battery pack includes protection circuitry and state of charge information that is passed to the radio via a separate interface on the battery pack. This battery pack provides over 12 hours of normal operation, based on a 1:1:8 Transmit: Receive: Standby ratio, at 25°C. The battery pack can be charged using the standard Battery Charger. It can also be charged in the radio using the inbuilt charging capability. Day Battery, AA Carrier The Day Battery, AA Carrier provides a means of using AA batteries in the SSR Plus radio as an alternative to the High Capacity Battery, Rechargeable. It will take six AA cells of any chemistry providing the combined cell voltage remains within the parameters specified in the technical specification. CTX Waterproof Solutions The CTX is an intelligent radio interface system for use in environments as diverse as the tropics or the Arctic, and from arid desert to open ocean environments. It provides the user with all the required communication interface capabilities, no matter what the mission. The Operational Swimmer’s Kit (OSK) and Operational Diver’s Kit (ODK) allow swimmer and diver teams to become instantly effective out of the water and provide mutual support in demanding maritime operations. The kits can be used with non-waterproof and waterproof radios and are submersible to 66 feet/20 metres. The CTX is adaptable to environmental change through the use of different headsets. It intelligently detects the addition of new radios and intercoms via its automatic sensing software. This optimises the quality of communications at all times. The CTX is a three-input system enabling up to two radios and an intercom system to be connected simultaneously. It is simple to fit and operate, with no requirement for classroom-based training. It features multiple headset options. A Lithium Ion back-up cell provides up to 3.5 hours of reduced capability operation in the event of a primary cell failure. This ensures the user is never without communications, even when changing the battery. If charge to the back-up cell is required, once the primary cell is replaced, the back-up cell will trickle charge from the primary cell. The CTX is submersible to a depth of 20 metres when used with a SELEX Communications 20 metre submersible headset ••Kits are available for non-waterproof radios and incorporate a waterproof carry bag. The headset is connected via a Control Box or Junction Box to a Carry Bag. To activate the radio, use one of the PTT switch options. ••Waterproof-radio swim and dive kits are terminated with a user specified connector. No waterproof carry bag is required. The Headset is connected via a control box/ PTT or junction box/PTT to a user specified approved waterproof radio connector and is designed to be used with a waterproof radio. ••The kits can be operated to a depth of 66 feet/20 metres only if the radio meets the environmental performance. The manufacturer’s radio submersion levels should be consulted. ••The fully submersible, single-sided TASC1 Headset features a sealed earphone housing, waterproof boom microphone and a fixed PVC ear cup, which helps exclude external noise. It is rugged, simple to clean and fits snugly to a user’s head.
