Fireworks – type conformity and examination
FORCE Certification A/S provides expertise in inspection and certification of fireworks and other

appointed as Notified Body by the Danish Safety
Technology Authority, based on an accreditation
by DANAK – The Danish Accreditation and Metrology Fund.

Testing and certification of pyrotechnic articles
All fireworks and other pyrotechnic articles
manufactured in or imported to the EU have to
comply with the requirements of the Pyrotechnic
Directive 2013/29/EU.
In brief, all fireworks and other pyrotechnic articles must be in conformity to the requirements
of the directive prior to distribution on the European market.
As Notified body, FORCE Certification will perform the required testing and issue certificates in
compliance with the Directive.
We provide:
1. Module B: EC-type examination
Type examination and certification ensure that
the article’s construction and function are examined in order to verify that the article type fulfills
the safety requirements of the Directive. The examination may include a single article or multiple
articles.
2. Module C: Type conformity Assessment
Type conformity assessment is performed to submit an article to product control with varying intervals in order to compare the assessment with
the type approval for the relevant article.
3. Module E: Conformity to type based on
product quality assurance
Module E covers approval of the quality assurance system for final pyrotechnic article inspection and testing. Conformity to type is based
on product quality assurance and is part of the
conformity assesment procedure whereby the
manufacturer fulfills his obligations and declares
that the articles are in conformity with the type
in the EU-type examination certificate.
The procedure
The below mentioned procedure is applicable for
both manufacturers, importers and distributors
of fireworks.
After reciept of application for the EC-type examination of an article, FORCE Certification will
perform tests in order to evaluate whether the
article meets the relevant requirements.
If this is the case, FORCE Certification will issue
a certificate (Module B), documenting the conformity of your article with the Directive.
During article production and prior to distribution on the European market, it is necessary to
perform an article inspection to prove that the
article is in conformity with the Module B.
The quality control is performed as a physical test
of the article (Module C).
When the results from the quality control are approved by FORCE Certification A/S, you are ready
to enter the European market.
