Shanghai AVIC Optoelectronics Co. and NLT Technologies Announce
the Formation of New Company
Shanghai, China, September 5, 2013 – Today, Shanghai AVIC Optoelectronics Co., Ltd.
(Shanghai AVIC) and NLT Technologies, Ltd. (NLT) formally announce the establishment
(March 15, 2013) and official launch, currently scheduled for November 1, 2013, of a new joint
venture Tianma NLT America, Inc., to provide the most advanced AMLCD display solutions
specifically catering to the Americas industrial market. These companies are all part of the
TIANMA Group* (TIANMA Group).
Tianma NLT America, Inc. offers robust AMLCD display products and solutions from both NLT
and the Tianma Group, with a breadth of manufacturing options from the Tianma Group and
quick response to customers in the industrial, medical and high-resolution display application
fields. The company will have responsibility for sales, marketing and engineering support of the
NLT/Tianma product line as well as management responsibility of the distribution channel for
the Tianma AMLCD products in the Americas.* [*Note: these responsibilities are currently
managed by Renesas Electronics America’s Display Business Unit.]
The company name, Tianma NLT America, Inc., leverages the strong brand equity of NLT and
its world-class technology strength and quality AMLCD display modules plus the advanced
manufacturing strength of Tianma Group facilities. Drawing upon the strength of each of its
contributors, the new company and new name aims to resonate with customers and stimulate
new opportunities for expansion of the LCD business.
Dr. Shigehiko Sato, well known in the industrial LCD business, is named President of Tianma
NLT America. Formerly Vice President of the Display Business Unit at Renesas Electronics
America Inc. (REA), Dr. Shigehiko Sato brings over 20 years of experience spanning two
continents, America and Asia, with a deep understanding of the AMLCD business through
strong customer relationships. Under his leadership, the new company will provide marketing,
engineering, design, pre-sales, sales and post-sales support of LCD products and LCD-related
services to customers in the Americas.

According to Dr. Sato, first and foremost, Tianma NLT America is focusing on a smooth
transition strategy for customers and partners to ensure continuous supply of high-quality
solutions combined with continued exceptional customer support which REA Display Business
Unit (DBU) has been providing.
Tianma NLT America, Inc. is targeted to begin operations, with REA DBU personnel
transitioning to the new company, on November 1, 2013.

Biography of Dr. Sato
Dr. Sato was employed by NEC Corporation and engaged in the AMLCD display development,
manufacturing engineering and sales in the Display Operation Unit (currently NLT Technologies
Ltd.). He was transferred to NEC Electronics America in 1996 as the associate general manager
of Electronic Component Strategic Business Unit (SBU), and then appointed as the general
manager of Display SBU in 1998, and Associate Vice President in 2002. When Renesas
Electronics America Inc. was formed in 2010, Dr. Sato was promoted to the Vice President of
Display BU. He joined Tianma Microelectronics (USA) Inc., on June 1, 2012 as the President.
Dr. Sato received a doctor degree of applied physics from Tohoku University, Japan.
