Apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering

Manufacturing Manager or Leading Hand or Tradesperson

POSITION OBJECTIVES

1. To achieve National Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Level 4) together with the required electrical practicing licenses by gaining engineering experience from the Scott Technology

Apprentice program and the supervising authority.

2. Become part of a successful manufacturing team.

3. To complete all work to the highest possible standard.

4. To liaise in a professional manner with the relevant parties, Workshop Team, Drawing office and Project Management during the Manufacturing process to help achieve the best outcome for all involved parties, both for the project and customer.

DELEGATED AUTHORITY

Follow assigned duties as outlined in Scott workshop standards.

Learn to make decisions regarding manufacture in conjunction with the Leading Hand or

Tradesperson.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

1. On The Job Learning

Task

To comply with company standards and practices to produce quality workmanship to complete manufacture and assemblies accurately to Scott standards on time and to

Budget.

Delivery of electrical activity to meet project / production requirements.

Measures

Learn methods and procedures required to carry out and aid daily workshop duties.

Learn to operate various machine along with the functionality and to aide overall.

Learn the wiring skills and practices as per

ASNZS and regulations required to aid in assembly, and apply correctly.

Learn planning to set goals, targets and ensure that these are achieved.

On time target delivery.

Task duration, delivery dates are set and achieved.

Accurate data reporting details of job progress and time lines current and expected.

To continuously improve productivity.

To carry out essential administrative tasks

Effective use of equipment to maintain the required quality.

Improvement actions suggested eliminating inefficiencies and reworking.

All administrative tasks completed on time and as required.

Non-conformance forms filled out correctly.

Drawing detail understood and followed.

Time cards are completed accurately and on time.

Lean Six Sigma Process.

Immediately communicate issues as they arise to the appropriate person.

To proactively communicate any issues that may hinder the successful completion of a task.

Understand Commissioning principles of

Machinery applying them when instructed.

Understand and Maintain work flow

Preform electrical safety Tests of assembled and pre-assembled equipment.

Equipment tested against the ASNZS

Standards and regulations including contract requirements.

Problem solving methods applied - Pre checks, Dry fits, fault finding.

Inform Logistics of material procurement and

/ or tooling requirements to maintain serviceable stock levels.

When a job is completed new work is sought.

Bottle necks are identified and resolved where possible.

2. Quality

Task Measures

To comply with Trade Qualified practices together with ASNZS and regulations to produce quality workmanship to complete manufacture and assemblies accurately to

Scott standards on time and to Budget.

Quality control processes are followed - records completed.

Re-work reported and investigations assisted.

Project specific Standards are met.

To meet company and project specific quality controls processes.

Drawing release and update procedure followed.

To learn maintenance of assigned equipment, tooling and wiring maintained and in accordance with legislative requirements in a safe, effective and efficient state. To be available for the task that they are intended.

All equipment is operable and available for the task that they are intended.

All legislative requirements met.

Annual Plan are completed.

3. Training and Development

Task Measures

Attend Training Institute classes and complete unit standards and examinations as required.

Successful completion of all required assessments and examinations in normally accepted timeframes.

To participate in regular Performance

Reviews.

Quarterly Reviews are attended and contributed to.

Actions from Performance Reviews are completed.

Continuously develops their technical and behavioural competencies.

Aid other apprentices and encourages up skilling of others when requested.

Apprentices and trainees are encouraged and assisted.

4. Health and Safety

Task

Ensure that all workplace accidents and/or

‘near-misses’ are notified and documented.

Measures

To follow and comply with all Health & Safety

Policies and Procedures.

No breach of Policies or Procedures.

Immediate notification and accurate documentation of accidents, incidents and

‘near-misses’.

Sets a good example of Health and Safety practice through personal behaviour.

Maintain a high level of housekeeping.

Contribute to and provide solutions for the control and management of identified hazards.

Takes an active role in HSE communication events.

5. General

Task

To follow and comply with all general

Company Policies and Procedures.

Measures

No breach of Policies or Procedures.

Attend meetings as and when required.

Attendance and constructive participation at all meetings.

Carry out any other duties, tasks or special projects as required by the Manufacturing

Manager or Leading Hand or Project Lead.

Carried out and completed as required.

Will be involved and support the Group's

Continuous Improvement Programme to ensure we deliver high quality products and services in less time. Involvement will typically be within improvement project teams or kaizen events as a team participant or team leader.

6. Travel

Travel away from home (domestic or international) will be expected with consideration given to frequency of travel and exceptional personal circumstances that may exist.

Where possible a minimum of two week s’ notice will be given in advance of any required travel, with the intent being to have adequately defined the activity and limit the duration overseas to a maximum of 6 weeks at any one time.

COMPETENCIES

Completion of a minimum of three years secondary education.

NCEA Level 1 in English and Maths (required).

NCEA Level 1 in Science, Graphics and Technology (ideal).
