SUMMARY
Under direct supervision of the Lead Electrician, and under general direction of an immediate supervisor in the electrical shop,
the apprentice electrician engages in the construction, maintenance and repair of electric power, lighting, and communication
systems of all facilities and equipment and other tasks as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 Assists in performing the work required for the repair, maintenance, installation, and modernization of electrical systems
for building, equipment and ground, including lighting and ballasts.
 Performs work of a skilled variety demanding a high degree of manual and technical competency.
 Assists in locating and determining electrical malfunctions using test equipment.
 Repairs malfunctions by such methods as replacing burned out elements, fuses, and replacing defective wiring, cleaning
and repairing motors and associated equipment.
 Assists in testing electrical equipment, such as, motors, heaters, and controls for safety and efficiency, using standard test
equipment and by observing functions.
 Installs fixtures, wiring conduits, motors, and other electrical equipment.
 Replace faulty electrical components such as relays, switches, and motors.
 Assisting with set up of electrical equipment for trade shows, concerts, conventions, and other events located within our
facilities
 Maintain lamps in lighting fixtures and associated equipment or devices.
 Keep work areas clean and organized
 Other job duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has limited supervisory responsibilities. Carries out any temporarily assigned supervisory responsibilities in
accordance with SMG’s policies and applicable laws.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
 Requires 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area or field.
 Must be 18 years of age
 Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
 Must be able to read, write and understand English
 Must be eligible to work in the United States
 Meet the physical demands of this job
 Ability to organize and prioritize to handle multiple projects simultaneously
 Critical thinking and problem solving skills
 Must have demonstrated skills in observance and daily practice of proper safety procedures.
 Working knowledge of electrical safety codes.
 Knowledge of in power tools, and vehicles or objects in motion such as forklifts, scissor lifts, or other moving machinery
 Professional presentation, appearance and work ethic
 Ability to work with limited supervision and as a team member.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
 Job requires possession of a valid Oklahoma State Electrical Apprentice within 120 days of hire

Manual dexterity – Regularly required to use hands, to finger, handle or feel
Reach with hands and arms
Climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl to access electrical systems
Climbing ladders and staircases multiple times per day as needed.
May spend long hours in walking or standing
Frequent lifting / pushing / pulling up to 25lbs; occasional lifting / pushing / pulling up to 50lbs; rarely lifting / pushing /
pulling up to 75-100lbs (with assistance)
Ability to operate heavy equipment
Working from a lift truck, scissor lift or boom lift.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision for inspection or electrical systems and electrical repairs
Ability to distinguish colors and color-coded wires.
Hearing sufficient to clearly hear voices, alarms, bells and horns.

COMPUTER SKILLS
 Proficient computer skills including the ability to operate standard office equipment such as computers,
fax machines, phone, etc.
 Operate a personal computer using Windows and Microsoft Office software.
HOURS OF WORK AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
 Travel negligible
 Shifts vary – Required to work any shift needed (as scheduled)
 Ability to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
