Job Description Title: Department: Coordinator of Accreditation and Assessment Office of the Provost Reports to: Associate Director of CCS FLSA Status: Exempt Job summary The Coordinator will provide leadership, in cooperation with the Provost’s office and the deans and directors, in the further design and development of the University’s over-all assessment program with a priority given to academic assessment. The Coordinator will assist in the development of systems to gather needed data, will assist in gathering data, and will be involved in the analysis of data and other information in order for the University to function more effectively and to better meet its mission and learning outcomes. The Coordinator will also help meet accreditation requirements and will be responsible for producing accreditation reports. S/he will monitor the assessment system, make improvements, maintain and monitor information, and produce reports as needed. In addition, the Coordinator will perform support services for the academic departments as well as for the college and campus; work on various committees; and engage in a program of professional development, scholarship and research. Essential Job Functions Assessment and Accreditation Responsibilities Develop or use an existing, comprehensive assessment system centered on evidence of student learning outcomes in academic programs. Collaborate with University academic units in research and assessment of student success. Provide leadership, coordination, and expertise for program evaluation, outcomes assessment, and research efforts within the University. Support strategic planning to improve educational delivery and enhance student learning. Act as a University liaison in assessment and accreditation efforts. Offer development, oversight, and monitoring of the collection of multiple departmental assessment data for evaluation, accountability, and accreditation of programs and faculty. Maintain and develop data. Engage with NC-SARA and ensure that distance learning initiatives in other states have appropriate approvals on an ongoing basis. Serve as a resource for faculty and staff, and provide training. Pursue continuing professional development and/or research related to assessment, research methods, or a related field. Serve on college and departmental committees. Engage collegially with faculty and staff. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Master’s degree in research and evaluation or related area from appropriately accredited institutions. Experience in institutional research, educational evaluation, or related field. Knowledge of research design (quantitative and qualitative). Proficiency in the use of statistical analyses and packages (i.e. SAS, SPSS, etc.), report writers, etc. Highly developed written and oral communications skills (including presentations and briefings). Familiarity with accreditation standards and processes, including the Council for the Accreditation of Education Programs (CAEP). North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA) Higher Learning Commission (HLC), and the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Understanding of and appreciation for liberal arts education. The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to research, work and teach with persons from diverse backgrounds. Desired/Preferred Qualifications Terminal degree in research, evaluation or related area. Five (5) years of full time experience in institutional research, educational evaluation, or related. Demonstrated success in leading and developing programs. Demonstrated success in undergraduate teaching. Record of successful research and publication and/or experience in the field. Physical/Mental Demands Required Primarily sedentary work requiring the ability to lift/carry a maximum of 25 pounds; physical requirements include frequent bending, standing, walking; continuous ability for speech communication and hearing in order to communicate with employees and the public, vision for reading, recording and interpreting information, and ability to sit for long hours at a time. Mental demands require continuous ability for both oral and written communication; frequent problem solving and concentration; and occasional analytical ability and creativity. Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate personal computer and office equipment.
