KS Thermal Deaerators

USE

KS Deaerators (hereinafter referred to as deaerators) are used for physical degassing of water supply. The purpose of degassing is the reduction of O2 and

CO2 gases, in particular in the in-feed water of boilers to prevent corrosion.

Technical description

The deaerator is a vertical cylindrical vessel, closed at the top with a dished bottom with a man-hole and with a built-in vapour drain. On the shell of the deaerator there is a neck for water inlet and a pressure-vacuum gauge. The lower cylindrical part of the deaerator is welded to the degassed water tank. The built-in inner assembly is designed to create the conditions for effective separation of gases from the incoming water. Heating steam for the deaerator is fed into the degassed water tank above the maximum level. Both saturated and superheated steam can be used, taking into account the maximum calculated wall temperature of the deaerator of 200ºC. The maximum operating pressure of deaerators can be 0.07 MPa. The outer surface of the deaerator is primed.

After entering the deaerator, water is fed into the spray section where it is dispersed through the special nozzles and then it goes through the shower section. The heating steam for the deaerator is fed into the tank above the maximum water level. It is desired that the neck for the heating steam is as far from the deaerator as possible and thus supports the flow of steam above the feeding water. Steam may also be fed into boiling barbotage, which is required to achieve the residual oxygen content below 10 uq/l of degassed water.

Barbotage is available upon request as the tank accessory. Design of the deaerators is shown in the figures below.

Technical specification

Deaerators are designed for use with heating steam both saturated and superheated. In case of using superheated steam, the highest design temperature and the operating temperature of the wall of 200ºC have to be considered. The maximum operating pressure of deaerators can be 0.07 MPa. For proper operation of the deaerator it is necessary to maintain a constant pressure inside the deaerator.

The rate of linear pressure increase or decrease must not be greater than 20 kPa/min.

The following basic parameters are required to determine the size of the deaerator

• Water flow rate (maximum and minimum);

• The maximum required heating of water in the deaerator;

• The maximum operating pressure in the deaerator;

• Temperature and pressure of the heating steam;

• Desired value of the residual oxygen content, or the type and parameters of the boiler.

Delivery and storage

Deaerators are delivered to the site assembled as a whole, without packaging.
