LEARN A NEW LANGUAGE
English as a Second Language (ESL)
This class is intended for non-native speakers of English. The class will focus on reading, writing and listening
skills in English. It will aid the student in using correct grammar and pronunciation, as well as getting a better
grasp of content. American culture as well as ethos will be discussed to familiarize the student with the new
world he/she will be living in. Different levels of English skill ability are welcome.
Italian
In this Italian class you will develop conversational skills, learn how to structure sentences and learn about the
history of the Italian culture. There will be an extensive question and answer period at the end of each class.
Arabic Culture and Language
Are you looking for some educational stimulation this spring? Would you like to learn about a different culture,
religion and people? Well, look no further. Come join Sanna Saddy, a Lebanese-American who has lived
and visited various parts of the Middle East, for a fascinating look at the rich and multi-faceted culture of that
region through lectures, discussions, videos and field trips. Bring an open mind, ponder and enjoy the
journey!
Beginning Russian
This course is an introduction to the Russian language and culture. The class is designed to introduce
beginning students to the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. You will learn Cyrillic
alphabet and will master Russian penmanship. You will also be introduced to the basics of Russian grammar
and pronunciation, as well as learn to communicate in Russian in a number of everyday situations. Part of
every session will be exercises and conversation relating to the individual chapters.
German I & II
This beginning course is focused on the fundamentals of the
German language. You will learn German grammar and
vocabulary while being introduced to contemporary life and
culture in German speaking countries. All four language skills –
listening, speaking, reading and writing – play a major role in the
language learning process. Topics to be covered include
introducing and talking about oneself, shopping, telling time,
family life and travel. By the end of the course, you will be able
to participate in simple conversation in a German speaking
environment.
