Issue Number │002 August 2015 New Product Announcement DSR8F600 Rectifier 600V Hyper-Fast Rectifier Improves Power Efficiency for PFC and CCM Applications Diodes Incorporated announces the introduction of the new DSR8F600 which is the initial release of a series of high voltage and hyper-fast rectifiers. The new rectifier is housed in the industry standard molded plastic TO220AC package. The DSR8F600 features high reverse breakdown voltage (VRRM e600V), maximum average rectified output current (IO=8A), low forward voltage drop (VF_TYP=1.95V @ +25ºC), hyperfast reverse recovery time (tRR_MAX=20ns @ +25ºC), and low reverse recovery current (IRM_TYP=3.9A @ +25ºC). These unique features reduce conduction losses and alleviate stress in MOSFETs. The DSR8F600 has been designed specifically for use as a boost diode in Power Factor Correction (PFC) and Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM) applications. In addition, the very fast soft recovery characteristic of the rectifier minimizes noise generation and ensures ringing and EMI are reduced. The targeted end markets for the DSR8F600 are high output SwitchedMode Power Supply (SMPS), servers and telecom equipment, and flat panel TVs. Delivering superior performance, the DSR8F600 is ideally suited for today’s high-speed fully automated assembly processes. The TO220AC case is fully green and RoHS-compliant. (See diodes.com for further details). The Diodes’ Advantage Hyper-Fast Reverse Recovery Time The DSR8F600 has hyper-fast reverse recovery time (tRR_MAX=20ns @ +25ºC) which allows for faster switching speed and reduces power losses. Low Forward Voltage Drop With low forward voltage drop (VF_TYP=1.95V @ +25ºC), the DSR8F600 reduces boost diode conduction losses. Low Reverse Recovery Current The DSR8F600 has low reverse recovery current (IRM_TYP=3.9A @ +25ºC) which minimizes the boost diode recovery losses and improves the power efficiency. Very Fast Soft Recovery Capability The very fast soft recovery characteristic of the DSR8F600 ensures ringing and EMI are reduced. The boost diode is ideally suited for use in hard switching and CCM power circuits.
