Muhammad is a senior in mechanical engineering at the University of
Wisconsin-Madison. In two
co-op sessions he has designed
internal prostheses and surgical
instruments. He pursues his research interests at WEMPEC,
an electromechanics research
consortium. He plans to remain
in academics and aspires to be a
research professor.
Sara is studying chemical engineering at the
University of Maryland, Baltimore County, with a minor in
biology. She has been involved
in research projects on modeling prostate cancer in rats and
analyzing the morphology of
fungal mutants for large scale
bioreactors. She is interested in
pursuing a Ph.D. together with
gaining industry experience.

Emmanuel is a chemical engineering major at
Florida Tech minoring in computational mathematics. He
volunteers with Habitat for
Humanity, has received numerous awards in academia, and has
held several positions in campus
organizations. He plans to further his education and pursue
a career in renewable energy.
Alex is majoring in optical engineering with a
minor in biomedical engineering at the University of Rochester. He is currently researching
freeform optical design of telescopes at NASA Goddard.
Following graduation, he plans

has been active at WVU as

with Engineers Without Borders traveling to Fiji and the
Dominican Republic for clean
water projects. After graduation, she plans to work in the
energy industry and one day explore Guatemala.
Shannon is a biomedical engineering student at
Boston University where she
is MA Eta Chapter president.
For two summers, she has
worked at a BU lab on creating
implantable silk biomaterials.
After graduation, she plans to
pursue a Ph.D. and continue
engineering biomaterials for
use in regenerative medicine.
Deidre is double majoring in civil & environmental
engineering and Spanish at
South Dakota State University.
She hopes to pursue a career in
engineering with an emphasis in
sustainability. She is an active
member in several organizations on campus, including TBP,
ASCE, SWE, and Engineers
Without Borders.

of the New York Eta Chapter
of TBP. After graduation, he
plans to pursue a research and
development career in the field
of prosthetics.
Allan majors in electrical engineering at the
University of Kentucky. His
minors are in Spanish and
mathematics, and he will earn
the PEIK Power & Energy
Certificate. Allan has completed two co-op rotations with

renewable energy in Spain,

will pursue a Ph.D.
Cameron is studying electrical engineering at
Brigham Young University. He
works in circuit design and low
level programming at the Electro-Holography Lab, where he
is building his own holographic
video monitor. He interned at
Intel this summer, will serve on
campus as IEEE chair and Eta
Kappa Nu secretary, and plans to pursue a Ph.D.
Tyler is a biomedical engineering major at the University of Cincinnati with a minor
in business administration. He

and a student tutor and teacher’s
assistant with BMES. Tyler has
completed four co-op rotations at
Ethicon Endo-Surgery, plans to
obtain an MBA or master’s, and

Connor is studying electrical engineering at the
New Mexico Institute of Mining & Technology. He serves as

as IEEE chair. He is an avid
writer and performed GPS interference research at the Joint
Navigation Warfare Center
as an intern. Connor plans to
pursue a graduate degree.

Harun is studying biological engineering at MIT.
He is interested in drug development process and is researching an anti-cancer drug. He is
also interested in the human
immune system and ways it
can be exploited to make better
drugs. After graduation, Harun
plans to attend graduate school

Nathan is studying electrical engineering at

Mary Beth is a mechanical engineering major at the
University of Dayton. She’s a

Delta sorority, and SWE chapter
officer. She has completed co-op
rotations with Eaton Corp. Mary
Beth also teaches fitness classes,
participates in campus ministry,
and helps raise money for Children’s Hospital.

Justin is studying computer engineering at
Valparaiso University, and is a
Hesse Scholar. He works in the
IT Dept., tutors, and is involved
in several research projects. He
plans to pursue a Ph.D. in computer science with a focus on AI
or programming languages. He
then hopes to work in research
and move to teaching.
Pedro is an optical engineering major at the
University of Rochester. He is
former president of the Optical
Society chapter, student-alumni
ambassador, and Sigma Phi
Epsilon fraternity member. He
wants to develop cost-effective
solutions to deliver clean water
to poor regions around the world.
He is also interested in medical vision devices and
augmented & virtual reality technologies.

Kasra is a biomedical engineering major at the
University of Iowa focusing on
medical image analysis and bioinformatics. He will pursue a Ph.D.,
conduct research and collaborate
in ophthalmology and neurology,
and teach at the university level.

a Bowman Scholar, and will
continue his laser-assisted advanced manufacturing research.
Shuwen is studying chemical & biological engineering at the University of
Alabama with a minor in mathematics. She has researched
computational modeling and
is president of the American
Chemical Society chapter. Upon
graduation, Shuwen plans to
pursue a Ph.D. and a career in
academia.
Ellen is double majoring in chemical engineering and integrated science at
Northwestern University while
pursuing a managerial analytics certificate. She is involved
with AIChE, SWE, student hall
government Eco-Reps, peer advising, and biomaterial research.
She does crafts with children at
Lurie Children’s Hospital.
