Fuse Circuit Breaker
General Description
It protects system lines and different equipment of lines such as: transformers,
capacitor banks, primary and branch lines, etc.
Fuse circuit breakers are used in 13.8, 23.0, and 34.5kV distribution systems; they
provide reliable protection to interrupt power failures or overloads through the fusion
of the fuse element within its range of interrupting capacity.
TIPO C
Designed for outdoor service, these are provided with arcing horns to open under
load with a portable breakload tool.
The fuse tube is made of fiberglass, epoxy resin and a vulcanized fiber internal
coating, which helps arc interruption during failure or excessive overload conditions.
Types of Circuit Breakers
“C” type circuit breaker of the “APD” family, IUSA brand for areas with normal
pollution, nominal voltage of 15, 27, and 38kV.
“V” type circuit breaker of the “CPV” family, IUSA brand for areas with normal
pollution, nominal voltage of 15, 27, and 38kV.
“V” type circuit breaker of the “CPV-C” family, IUSA brand for areas with high pollution,
nominal voltage of 15, 27, and 38kV.

IUSA APLEA Polymer Arrestor
General Description
The IUSA APLEA (Line Arrestors with Air Gap) is equipment to be installed in parallel
with line insulators, without mechanical load, that limits surges and arc currents
caused by lighthning discharges through an air gap electrode and metal oxide nonlinear resistors that extinguish the arc produced between the electrode and the
distribution line cable.
Opposed to conventional arrestors, these are disconnected from the distribution line
by an air gap that allows controlling the discharges it extinguishes, as demonstrated
in the tests performed, which obtained satisfactory results according to specification
CFE 52000-66.
The design of its silicon rubber sleeve ensures that the arrestor will not release highspeed solid residues and is compliant to be installed under normal and high pollution
environmental conditions.

I. PEDESTAL TYPE DISTRIBUTION TRANSFORMERS
Single-Phase Pad-Mount Type Distribution Transformers
General Description
Single-phase distribution pedestal transformers.
General Specifications
From 25 kVA to 100 kVA in carbon steel or stainless steel.
Primary voltage: Volts 13200YT/7620.
Secondary voltage: 240/120 volts.
Secondary connection: 1 phase, 3 wires.
Frequency: 60 Hz.
Overheating temperature 65º C or 55° C for the coast type.
Branch joints to full capacity: (4) 2 up, 2 down 2.5% each .
Operating altitude: 2300 meters above sea level.
Cooling type: self-cooling-OA.
Overload protection: oil-immersed bayonet expulsion fuse, operated from the outside
in series with another internal-mount current-limiting fuse.
Secondary circuit, oil operation (optional).
High-voltage terminals: dead front with two well bushings, one in ring configuration
and the other in radial operation.
Low-voltage terminals: three spade-type bushings.
Manufacturing standards: NMX-J-285-ANCE.

Primary Connection: star.
Secondary Voltage: 220/127 Volts.
Secondary connection: star.
Frequency: 60 Hz.
Overheating temperature 65º C or 55° C for coast type.
Branch joints to full capacity: (4) 2 up, 2 down 2.5% each .
Operating altitude: 2300 meters above sea level.
Cooling type: self-cooling-OA.
Overload protection, oil-immersed bayonet expulsion fuse, operated from the outside
in series with another internal-mount current-limiting fuse. With partial or full range,
two-position disconnector.
High-voltage terminals: dead front with well bushings up to 500 kVA, 200 amperes.
Well bushings up to 500 kVA, with six bushings for ring configuration operation and
three for radial operation.
Low-voltage terminals: four spade-type bushings.
Manufacturing standards: NMX-J-285-ANCE.
Specification: K-0000 CFE-07 and K-0000-08.

IUSA Prisma Phase Converter Post-Type
General Description
The PRISMA phase converter operates by delivering three-phase electric power
from a single-phase source. It operates in medium voltage with two phases, two
wires, and provides—in low voltage—three-phase voltage values on four wires.
This differentiates the PRISMA IUSA phase converter from transformers, selftransformers, or converters, whether electronic, with capacitors, or of the generator
type. Our converter behaves as a voltage source connected at medium voltage to
an infinite bar (as could be the medium voltage terminals from the power supply
company at 33kV, 25kV, 15kV), limiting the power delivered to working elements of
the equipment, delivering three-phase power on the low voltage side (it is reversible).
Thus, three-, two-, or single-phase loads—resistive, inductive, or capacitive—can
be connected to its output terminal blocks at any secondary voltage value used
worldwide.
