arranqements.

are arrangedfor grounding so that they may be installed to conform
wirh rhe"NationaTElectricil Code reqr'riremi.tts.On Style "K" plugs
and receptaclesthe safety circuit wire attachesto the grounding ring
in the plug handle. Grounding is then completed through a spring
'J"
plugs and receptacles
bronze clip in the receptaclehousing. Style
have an eira pole for the safety circuit wire. This pole is longer than
the other polCs to insure making contact first and breaking contact
last. Grounding is completed through both the extra pole and the
bronze spring clip in the receptaclehousing.

An important advantage of installing male service receiving
receptacles on portable equipment is in the use of two or more
lengths of cables when extra long extensions are required. The

Vith some types of portable or detachable elecrrical
equipment it may be desirable to automatically control
the circuit through the insertion and wirhdrawal of rhe
plug ar the receptacle. Such applications may include
transferring from one power source to a differenr power
source; for example, when the plug and receptacle is used
for bringing in standby service. In other applications it
may be desirable to remorely control the circuit at the
portable equipment by means of a push button station.
In these casesthe actuating coil of the magnetic switch
is connecred ro insulared twin auxiliarv contacr substiruted
