Visit Date : 9thApril,2015(11:00amto5:30pm) 68 students of ME 8th (B, C) took bus facility from VICT, Bhoyan Rathod to company along with the faculties Asst. Prof. Gautam Parmar, Mitraj Banker, Vipul Patel and Mayur Ghormade. Introduction Amul is an Indian dairy cooperative, based at Anand in the state of Gujarat, India. The word amul (अमूल) is derived from the Sanskrit word amulya (अमूल्य), meaning rare, valuable. The co-operative was initially referred to as Anand Milk Federation Union limited hence the name AMUL. Formed in 1946, it is a brand managed by a cooperative body, the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. (GCMMF), which today is jointly owned by 3 million milk producers in Gujarat. Amul spurred India's White Revolution, which made the country the world's largest producer of milk and milk products. In the process Amul became the largest food brand in India and has ventured into markets overseas. Dr Verghese Kurien, founder-chairman of the GCMMF for more than 30 years (1973–2006), is credited with the success of Amul. AMUL is also the largest exporter of dairy products in the country. AMUL is available today in over 40 countries of the world. AMUL is exporting a wide variety of products which include whole and skimmed milk powder, cottage cheese (Paneer), UHT milk, clarified butter (Ghee) and indigenous sweets. Details of visit Product Range: Amul's product range includes milk powders, milk, butter, ghee, cheese, MastiDahi, Yoghurt, Buttermilk, chocolate, ice cream, cream, shrikhand, paneer, gulabjamuns, flavoured milk, basundi, Amul Pro brand and others. Amul PRO is a recently launched brown beverage just like bournvita and horlicks offering whey protein, DHA and essential nutrients. In January 2006, Amul launched India's first sports drink, Stamina, which competes with Coca Cola's Powerade and PepsiCo's Gatorade. Amul offers mithaimate which competes with Milkmaid by Nestle by offering more fat at lower price. In August 2007, Amul introduced Kool Koko, a chocolate milk brand extending its product offering in the milk products segment. Other Amul brands are Amul Kool, a low-calorie thirst quenching drink; Masti Butter Milk; and Kool Cafe, ready to drink coffee. Amul'sicecreams are made from milk fat and thus are icecreams in real sense of the word, while many brands in India sell frozen desserts made from vegetable fat. Amul's sugar-free Pro-Biotic Ice-cream won The International Dairy Federation Marketing Award for 2007.Anand Plant Produces Milk Powder and Butter. Production Department: Milk Powder Processing Of Milk Powder Contains Classifier Unit, Pasteurizer Unit, Separator, And Powder Packing. Classifier Unit Separates solid impurities from flow of milk. Before that milk was kept at low temperature in tank. Pasteurizer Unit performs pasteurizing process continuously on milk so that milk was disinfected from bacteria. A steam Boiler passes heat to the milk and water content was evaporated from milk. After that Separator separates powder and stores to tank. Powder packing Unit packs that powder into Printed packing boxes. Butter Butter was made from cream made continuously from machine. Salt as Preservatives and color as additives are added to the butter continuously. After that it was packed on automatically Packing Machine. Capacity of butter plant is 25 tons per day. Museum Image 2: Amul History Museum Feedback of students Students had a very interesting experience at Amul dairy Anand, as this visit had combination of technical and management exposure. Students showed keen interest in asking questions about the management of the milk which is taken from rural area to the plants also about the supply chain management system of the prepared good. Students had very good technical exposure as they were able to see the process of packing which is completely automatic. They also showed keen interest in undergoing industrial training. Students had overall a very good experience of Amul Dairy, Anand visit and are thankful to the Industry and the management for arranging the visit.
