Scholarships to 71 Recipients
for the 2012 - 2013 Academic Year
The National Propane Gas Foundation Scholarship Fund Aims to foster
educational opportunities for the children of National Propane Gas Association
(NPGA) member companies by offering scholarships to colleges or vocational/
technical schools. The fund provides nonrenewable scholarships in the amounts of
$1,000 - $2,000.
The 2013 - 2014 academic year online scholarship application opens September
1, 2012 on the NPGA website.

ALYSSA AHRENS - Missouri Propane Gas
Association
Alyssa Ahrens is from Jefferson City, MO. She is a freshman at Truman State
University. She intends to focus on Psychology and Business. During her career
at high school, Alyssa received the A+ Award, Outstanding Academic Excellence
certificate and was elected to the National Honor Society in her junior year. She
serves as Deacon at her church and has participated in mission trips and youth
retreats. Alyssa's father, Steve Ahrens, is an employee of Missouri Propane Gas
Association.
JESSICA ANDERS - Joe and Naomi Cordill
Jessica Anders of Winnsboro, LA has just graduated from Franklin Parish High
School and will be attending the University of Louisiana where she will be
studying both Music and Mathematics education. She was active in her high
school’s Marching Band and hopes with her Music Education degree she can
share her passion with others as an educator. Her father Wesley Anders works
for Cordill Butane & Propane.
CAROLINE ANDERSON - Benchmarking Council
Caroline Anderson is from Trenton, SC. She will be a freshman at Furman
University in Greenville, South Carolina. Caroline is an avid book reader with plans
to major in English. The most anticipated part of studying at Furman is getting a
chance to participate in the school's study abroad programs. Her father, Rick
Anderson, works for Pametto Propane.
BRETT ARMSTRONG - New Jersey Propane Gas
Association/Alvin E. Clayton
Brett Armstrong is from Sussex, NJ. He will be attending Sussex County Community College as a
freshman, with a focus on Graphic Design. His father, Duane Armstrong, works for Suburban
Propane.
KELSEA BATTEFELD - James & Elizabeth Bass
Kelsea Battefeld lives in Meredosia, IL. She returns to Illinois College where she
is studying Psychology. She will be a Residential Assistant and will continue
playing in the Wind Ensemble. Her lifelong dream is to have a career that
provides a service to others. Her father, Brian Battefeld, is an employee of Bader
Agricultural Service Inc.
MEGAN BEAUDRY - Young Gassers
Megan Beaudry is from Albertville, MN and will be a senior at the University of St.
Thomas where she is double majoring in Community Health and Business
Administration. She maintains a full schedule of activities and volunteer work,
including involvement in clubs such as Colleges Against Cancer and Students in
Free Enterprise. Megan's father, Dale Beaudry, is an employee of Beaudry Oil &
LP Company.
BREANNE BORMAN - Missouri Propane Gas
Association
Breanne Borman is from Desoto, MO and will be a freshman at Wichita State
University. Her focus of study will be Pre-Forensic Science. While at Festus
High School Breanne was very active in sports, both as a team member and as
a volunteer coaching in Volleyball and Track & Field. Breanne she was also a
student tutor. Her father, Rich Borman, works for R&R Propane.
ERIKA BRIBIESCA - Milford & Gail Therrell Award
Erika Bribiesca is from Humble, TX. Her college journey began at Texas A & M
University; she recently decided to continue her education at the University of
Texas at Austin. With the help and support of her family she has achieved many
goals, but her ultimate objective is to earn a doctorate in Psychology. Erika's
mother, Isabel Bribiesca, is an employee of Amerigas.
JAMIE BRINSON - Mississippi Propane Gas
Association
Jamie Brinson is from Magee, MS. She is attending Jones County Junior
College and is majoring in Accounting. She plans to graduate this winter and
further her education at the University of Southern Mississippi. Jamie’s future
goal is achieving her Master’s Degree. Her father, James Brinson works for
Lampton Love.
SARAH BUCHANAN - William B. McHenry
Sarah Buchanan is from Morganton, NC. She will be starting at Western
Piedmount Community College in the fall. While at Patton High School Sarah
was in the National Art Honor Society, serving as Vice President in 11th grade
and then President in 12th. She also expressed herself through art as an
assistant to the Art Instructor. Her father, Ronald Buchanan is an employee of
Blossman Gas.
ANTHONY BURDO - Maurice Deal
Anthony Burdo was born and raised in Brattleboro, VT. He enjoys the outdoors
and music, playing trombone in band and is self-taught on the guitar and mandolin.
He will be attending Houghton College this Fall as a freshman, where he will major
in Biology. His plans lead to medicine working toward becoming a surgeon. His
father, Paul Burdo, is an employee of Merrill Gas Company (an Amerigas
company).
KIRA CARRIER - Bob & Linda Mayer
Kira Carrier is from Harrisonburg, VA where she graduated from Spotswood High
School. She will be attending Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University in the
fall and will study Human Nutrition Food and Exercise. She wants to become a
physical therapist and work with premature babies on their gross motor skills. In her
free time she enjoys running and spending time with her family and friends. Her
father, Eric Gregory, is an employee of Blossman Propane.

MARIAH CATES - Georgia Propane Gas Association
Mariah Cates will be attending the University of Georgia this fall as a freshman.
She will be studying in pursuit of a major in food science and technology. Mariah
graduated from Edmund Burke Academy fifth in her class. Mariah is the daughter
of Pete Cates, owner of TruFlame Propane Company.
NANCY CATES - Georgia Propane Gas Association
Nancy Cates will be a junior at Gardner-Webb University where she is a student
majoring in Accounting and International Business with a minor in Spanish. Nancy
is also a member for the track and field team. Nancy is on student government for
Gardner-Webb and works for the first-year program. Nancy is the daughter of Pete
Cates, the owner of TruFlame Gas Company.
MCKENZIE CHAMBERS - Gene and Joann Bissell
McKenzie Chambers is from Clancy, MT and is working towards a degree in
Liberal Studies through CollegePlus! which will allow her to graduate through
Thomas Edison State College. She is interested in pursuing politics or the law
once she has her undergraduate degree. Her father Larry Chambers works for
Heritage Propane/Amerigas.
ANDREA CLEEK - Missouri Propane Gas Association
Andrea Cleek lives in Marshfield, MO where she was the Student Body
President in her senior year of high school. She was a member of the National
Honor Society and served as their President during her senior year. Her social
concern projects range from working at the Ronald McDonald House to cleaning
up local parks with the NHS. She will attend Drury University in the fall and
study elementary education. Her father Alan Cleek is an employee of Brooks
Gas Co.
LEAH CLEEK - Missouri Propane Gas Association
Leah Cleek is from Marshfield, MO. While in high school she participated in the
Speech and Debate club, was a National Honor Society member and was
involved in the drama club and student government. Her community activities
include participating in the Joplin tornado clean-up, mentoring freshman students
and the Angel food ministry. She will be attending Southwest Baptist University
and plans on majoring in Intercultural Studies. Leah’s father Alan Cleek works for
Brooks Gas Co.
LAUREN CODY - Mark and Beth Pennington
Lauren Cody was born in San Francisco, CA. She will be attending the
University of Michigan this fall to pursue a degree in neuroscience, with the
hopes of becoming a pediatric neurologist. She will be part of the cross country
and track teams, continuing her excellence from when she was an all state, all
region and all conference runner in high school. Lauren's father, Harold Cody is
an employee of Crystal Flash Energy.
KARA CRAIG - Jack Capps
Kara Craig of Heltonville, IN will begin her senior year this fall at the University of
Evansville. She is majoring in Exercise Science with the eventual goal of earning
her doctorate in physical therapy. Kara is a member of Chi Omega at the University
of Evansville and continues to provide volunteer services both the Make a Wish
Foundation and a local center for abused women and children. Kara's father, Kevin
Craig works for Manchester Tank.
SETH DOEBBELING - Trinity Industries, Inc.
Seth Doebbeling is from Le Sueur, MN. He is studying engineering at Gustavus
Adolphus College. Seth also plays football for Gustavus. During the summer he
works at Genesis Growing Solutions, where his father Kenneth Doebbeling is an
employee.
CATHERINE EGGEN - CHS Foundation
Catherine (Katie) Eggen is from Chilhowee, MO. Having been born with cancer Katie
is a survivor due to the help of the doctors and nurses that assisted in her treatment.
She grew up wanting to be a motivation to others, to push through and fight for their life
by seeing and talking to a survivor. To achieve this goal, she is working on an
Associate Degree RN at State Fair Community College. Her father, Larry Eggen is an
employee of MFA Oil.
KATIE EIBEN - Ancient Gassers, Inc./Butane Propane
News
Katie Eiben is from Monticello, Iowa. She is a Sophomore at Drake University in Des
Moines, Iowa, currently double-majoring in Psychology and Sociology and eventually
hopes to become a licensed counselor and specialize in child psychology. Katie
volunteers at "To Write Love on Her Arms" where they present hope and help for
people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. Her father,
Ervin Eiben is an employee of Amerigas.
SARAH FRENCH - AmeriGas Propane
Sarah French is from Chesapeake, VA, and is a senior studying at James Madison
University (JMU). During this school year, she will be completing her practicum at
JMU's Morrison-Bruce Center for the Promotion of Physical Activity for Girls and
Women. She is also a member of the Eta Rho chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta and
JMU's Equestrian Club. Sarah's father, David French is an employee of Amerigas.
TAD FUCHS - Trinity Industries, Inc.
Tad Fuchs is from Pierce, NE and attending the University of Nebraska at
Kearney. He is majoring in Comprehensive Biology and Pre-Medicine. He
was the salutatorian of his high school class, and was on the Dean’s list for
both semesters of freshman year. He is involved in numerous science
activities on campus and is currently the secretary for the Biology Club. Tad's
mother, Paula Fuchs is an employee of Randolph Farm Supply.
LINDSEY GANDER - Missouri Propane Gas
Association
Lindsey Gander of Shelbyville, MO will continue her education this fall at Moberly
Area Community College – Columbia in pursuit of a nursing degree. Among her
many activities during her freshman year at Moberly was entering the Phi Theta
Kappa International Honor Society, the Alpha Tau and making the Presidents Honor
Roll. Lindsey’s mother, Thalia Gander, is an employee of Heetco, Inc., in Shelbina.
BERNADETTE GARDNER - At-Large
Bernadette Gardner of Frenchtown, NJ is continuing at Rutgers University where
she will be a sophomore this fall. She is a member of the National Society of
Collegiate Scholars at Rutgers and with maintaining a 4.0 GPA placed her on the
Dean’s list her freshman year. Immersing herself in the Spanish language, culture
and people, she placed 4th in the National Spanish Exam for New Jersey.
Bernadette’s mother, Patricia Gardner, is an employee of Stem Brothers, Inc. in
Milford, NJ.

Derek George lives in Bedford, IN. Derek is continuing his degree in Science, with
a concentration in Funeral Services at Vincennes University. He has been active
coaching basketball at his high school alma mater. Derek has shown his
hardworking drive throughout high school when he was inducted into the National
Honor Society and was also a member of the “I Care Council”. His father Charles
George works for Manchester Tank & Equipment.
NICOLE GLOSEMEYER - Missouri Propane Gas
Association
Nicole Lynn Glosemeyer is from Marthasville, MO. In her free time she likes to play
softball, which she played for St. Francis Borgia High School. She is attending
Chamberlain College of Nursing and will be a senior this fall. She hopes to
specialize in pediatric nursing. Her father, Steve Glosemyer, works for Blue Flame
Gas.
JONATHAN GOODSON - AmeriGas Propane
Jonathan Goodson lives in Salem, AZ and will be a senior at Arkansas State University where he is
studying Plant Science and Agricultural Education. He is a member of the Honors Collegiate
Association and Honors Ambassador. He plans on becoming a teacher, sharing his knowledge
about the agriculture field with high school students and encouraging them to pursue a career in
the same field. His father, Garry W Goodson, works for Amerigas Propane.
KAYLA HIGBEE - Williams Energy
Kayla Higbee is from Methow Valley, WA. She graduated high school with 150
hours of community service, 22 college credits already achieved and a Key Club
(Kiwanis) sash for all her accomplishments. She will attend Wenatchee Valley
Community College working towards a degree in Early Childhood Development.
Her mother Shawnee Higbee is an employee of North Cascades Propane
Service.
BRITTANY HILLMAN - Edward Woodrow Blossman
Brittany Hillman is from Prattville, AL. Starting her freshman year at Oklahoma City
University she plans to major in Dance Movement. She has danced competitively for
over fifteen years, winning many national titles and special awards. She had been
recognized for her community service through the arts. While in high school she
taught dance, mentored kids in the after school program, and was dual enrolled at
Auburn University at Montgomery. Brittany's father is an employee of Blossman
Gas.
TOREY HUDELSON - Pacific Propane Gas
Association
Torey Hudelson's life-long ambition has always been to become a nurse. She
will be a sophomore at Concordia University; where she joined the Nursing Club.
Through this club she participated in sponsoring all day activities for special
needs kids. Her father, Winton A Hudelson, is an employee of Randsome
Manufacturing & Meeder Equipment.
SAMANTHA IRVING - Robert Olson
Samantha Irving was born in Montrose, CO. She will be attending the
University of Northern Colorado where she plans on studying education, with an
emphasis in either English or History. Samantha was involved in many
activities outside her homeschooled curriculum. She participated in Civil Air
Patrol, volleyball, piano lessons and community volunteer work. Samantha's
father, Mark Irving, works for JC Propane.
LANDON ISABELL - Missouri Propane Gas
Association
Landon Isabell is from Warsaw, MO. He is an upcoming sophomore at George Fox
University in the greater Portland area. He loves his university and the courses he
is taking. And he is taking an abundance of classes; he is triple-majoring in Political
Science, International Studies, and Spanish. He hopes to join the Peace Corps
upon graduating and then continuing on to either law school or graduate school.
His father, Gregory Isabell, is an employee of MFA Oil Company.
COURTNEY JOHNSON - Jim Bertelsmeyer
Courtney Johnson will be a junior this year at North Dakota State University where
she will major in Agricultural Communication and Minoring in Animal Science. She
was a heavily active 4-H member throughout high school and still continues to
contribute her time as a volunteer. Courtney's career goal is to be employed
through the USDA or to continue to work with local nonprofits such as 4-H. Her
step-Father William Becker works for Federated Co-ops.
ANDREA KIEHL - At-Large
Andrea Kiehl is from Ford City, PA. She is a junior at Indiana University of
Pennsylvania (IUP) where she is pursuing a major in English and minor in
Philosophy. She is involved with student government at IUP, and is a member of
both Phi Eta Sigma and Sigma Alpha Lambda honor societies and the English
club. Andrea's father, Robert Kiehl Sr. is an employee of Suburban Propane.
ALISON KINKADE - Illinois Propane Gas Association
Alison Kinkade is from Gridley, IL. She will be attending Heartland Community
College as a freshman this fall. Her study emphasis will be Psychology. In high
school she was a member of the Key Club and Mu Alpha Theta and was the
captain of the volleyball team. Alison's father, Daniel Kinkade, is an employee of
Evergreen FS, Inc.
MORGAN KRATZ - Trinity Industries, Inc.
Morgan Kratz is from Souderton, PA. She is currently attending Eastern
Mennonite University; her future aspiration is Social Work and Psychology.
Between graduating from high school and starting college Morgan volunteered at
a homeless shelter. Her mother, Marice Kratz, works for Penn Valley Gas.
CHELSEY LEGACY - CHS Foundation
Chelsey Legacy grew up in Burke, NY. She will be a sophomore at Saint
Lawrence University this Fall where she is studying math and statistics in hope to
one day become an actuary. She participates in the Dance Team which performs
at the half time games for both football and basketball. Chelsey's stepfather,
Dwight McLaughlin is an employee of Pyrofax Energy.
LINDSEY LENSER - CHS Propane
Lindsey Lenser lives in Spooner, WE and attends the University of
Wisconsin - Superior where she is working on a double major in Business
Administration with a focus on Marketing and Management. Throughout
high school and college Lindsey has been active in the Drama club. Her
mother, Joan Lenser, works for WK Appliance and Propane.

ASHLEY LOSING - CHS Propane
Ashley Losing is from Alpena, SD. She is a senior pharmacy student at South
Dakota State University. Ashley is the co-chair of the Briggs Scholar Student
Organization, an Admissions Ambassador, and a yearly participant in Children's
Miracle Network activities. Ashley is the daughter of DeVonne Losing, who is an
employee of Alpena Cooperative Service.
JORDAN MARTIN - Propane Marketers Association of
Kansas/Beth Johnson Memorial
Jordan Martin is from Wichita, KS. He is a junior at Wichita State University
studying Aerospace Engineering. He enjoys aviation and has wanted to be an
engineer for as long as he can remember. Besides his studies, he is also
working as a Co-Op Structural Design engineer for Bombardier-Learjet. After
graduation, he plans to get a full time position as a design engineer. His
father, Alan Martin, works for Propane Central.
HANNAH MAY - Illinois Propane Gas Association
Hannah May is from Metamora, IL and is currently studying Interactive Digital
Media with an emphasis on New Media at Northwest Missouri State University.
While in high school she participated in the tennis program and served three
years on the yearbook staff. She has always been very tech savvy, so her
major is a natural fit. Hannah’s mother, Amy Huebsch-May works for
AmeriGas.
MICHAEL MCCLURE - North Carolina Propane Gas
Association/Romaine G. Holt
Michael McClure is from Tryon, NC. He will be a freshman at the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he plans to major in communications. While
in high school, Michael was a member of the marching band and also active in
several clubs, including the National Honors Society. His father, Randy McClure,
is an employee of Freeman Gas Company.
BRITTANY MORRIS - Ancient Gassers, Inc.
Brittany is from Wentworth, MO where she graduated from Pierce City High School.
Throughout high school she was involved in Future Business Leaders of America,
Student Council, FFA and the Foreign Language Club. She will be attending Crowder
College this Fall and majoring in social work. Brittany’s father, Stanley Morris, works
for Affordable Propane.
LEIGH MORSON - Mississippi Propane Gas
Association Courtney Blossman
Leigh Dexter Morson is from Clarksdale MS. Attending Mississippi College she is currently
pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. Leigh is also working to be certified in the ESL
program. She has been on the Dean’s list throughout the past two years. Leigh is involved in RUF
and Social Organizations at Mississippi College. Her father, John Morson, is an employee of
Morson and Windham Oil Company
ELIZABETH MOSER - Carl and Cheryl Hughes Family
Foundation
Elizabeth Moser of Castalia, OH will be a freshman at Bowling Green State
University this fall. While at Margaretta High School she was the president of
the National Honor Society while also volunteering through Ruriteens,
providing community service throughout Castalia. In 2011 she had the honor
of being a Buckeye Girls State Delegate. Elizabeth’s mother, Lisa Moser,
works for O.E. Meyer Co.
ERIC OCHS - Sam & Ann McTier
Eric Ochs lives in Olney, IL. He is very active in extracurricular activities including
FFA, 4-H, Spanish Club as well as this church's youth group, all while maintaining
academic excellence. He will be studying Automotive Technology at Olney Central
College this Fall. His father, Elmer Ochs, is employed at Wabash Valley Service
Company, Growmark.
KYLE PLANTZ - At-Large
Kyle Plantz of Central Square, NY is a recent graduate of Paul V. Moore High
School. He was in the National Honor Society, were he served as president during
his senior year, and in addition he was the Class of 2012’s Vice President. He also
excelled in athletics, serving as Captain of the Cross-Country, indoor track and
outdoor track in his last year and also received the Section III Scholar Athletic
Award for his school. Kyle is attending Boston University in the Fall to pursue a
journalism and history degree. Kyle’s father, Jeffrey House, is an employee of
Suburban Propane.
LIA RICHARDSON - Georgia Propane Gas
Association
Lia Richardson is from Tifton, Georgia. After traveling to other parts of the world
she saw poverty and poor living conditions, but most of all, she saw people. Lia
saw people who need Hope and Love; she became involved in her community
tutoring through the local government and taught English in China over summer
breaks. Lia is studying to become an Early Childhood Educator at The University
of Georgia. Lia's father, Dan Richardson, is an employee for Conger LP Gas.
MELISSA RIFFEL - Propane Marketers Association of
Kansas/Beth Johnson Memorial
Melissa Riffel is from Hope, Kansas. She plans to graduate from Kansas State
University in May of 2013 with a Bachelor in Elementary Education. In between
studying Melissa works as an emergency substitute teacher as well as a tutor
and club leader for an after school program. Her father, Ryan Riffel, works for
Propane Central.
KAYLA RUSSELL - Suburban Propane
Kayla Russell is from Lynchburg, Virginia. This fall she will be a freshman at
Lynchburg College majoring in Exercise Physiology. Kayla’s goal is to get my
Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Kayla graduated from Brookville High School with
an Honors Degree. While there she was a member of the National Honor Society,
Key Club and a mentor through the Big Brother Big Sister Organization. Kayla’s
mother, Amanda Hamlett, is an employee for Suburban Propane.
BRIDGET SAVOIE - AmeriGas Propane
Bridget Savoie is from Lafayette, LA and will be continuing a junior at
Louisiana State University. She is working towards a degree in Humanities
and Social Sciences. She is active in her school's anti-human trafficking
organization - Tigers Against Trafficking. She is a member of Kappa Delta
Sorority and Sigma Alpha Lamdba Honors Society. Bridget's stepfather,
Walter Arceneaux, is an employee for Amerigas Propane.

Association
Laura Schoonover is from Mound City, Missouri. She will be a junior at Northwest
Missouri State University where she is majoring in graphic design and minoring in
advertising. Laura spends most of her time in her studio and is heavily involved in
the Baptist Student Union at MWMSU. Laura's parents, Bruce & Patty
Schoonover, own Schoonover Oil Company, Inc.
ZACHARY SCHULER - Propane Marketers
Association of Kansas/Beth Johnson Memorial
Zach Schuler lives in Emporia, KS and is entering his junior year at Kansas State
University majoring in Nuclear Engineering. He is also in the final interview
processes for the United States Navy’s Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate
Program. Zack performs in the KSU Men's Choir and is a member of the National
Society of Collegiate Scholars. Zach's father, Kenny Schuler, is an employee of
S&S Oil and Propane.
TIMOTHY SIMPSON - Frederick A. Thomas Memorial
Tim Simpson grew up in Lyndonville, VT. He will be a senior at the New
England School of Communications and his major is communications with a
concentration in sports journalism and broadcasting. While at NESCom he and
several friends started a live stream spots podcast that airs twice a week. His
father, William Simpson, is an employee of Bourne's Energy in Morrisville, VT.
KATLYN SMALL - John D. Jenkins
Katlyn Small is from Edenton, NC. She will be starting at East Carolina University as a junior, after
studying previously at Pitt Community College. She plans on earning a degree in Child Life
Specialist. Katlyn's most cherished moments have been while volunteering through the Joy Group
at Chowan County. There she assisted planning activities for those with special needs. Katlyn's
mother, Dorothy Small, works for Quality Gas Service.
ANDREW SMITH - Heritage Propane
Andrew R. Smith of East Hazel Crest, IL is entering Taylor University as a
freshman, planning to major in Computer Science. He attended one year at
Illiana Christian High School and completed his high school studies as a home
school student. He is a member of the National Honor Society and volunteered at
a local non-profit thrift store. His mother, Nancy Smith, is an employee of
Amerigas Propane.
MATTHEW SMITH - AmeriGas Propane
Matthew Smith is from East Hazel, IL. In the spring of 2013 he will graduate from
Olivet Nazarene University with a degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in
mathematics. Matthew played for ONU's Men's Club Volley ball Team for two
years, serving as president in his sophomore year. He also served as the student
assistant coach for the Women's Volley team for the last three years. Matthew's
mother, Nancy Smith, works for Amerigas.
LAURA STEINDORF - Bertelsmeyer
Laura Steindorf is from Eugene, OR. She will be attending ULCA this fall as a
freshman. While at North Eugene High School she was a member of the
National Honor Society, reported for the school newspaper and participated
on three Varsity sports teams, and as those teams' captain. Her community
activities included volunteering for the Children's Miracle Network. Her father,
Chris Steindorf, is an employee of Amerigas in Springfield, OR.
REBECCA TANNER - Daniel N. Myers
Rebecca Tanner is from Moss Point, MS. She will be attending University of Southern Mississippi
in the fall. She graduated from Mississippi School for Math and Science. Her mother, Rebecca
Plummer, works for Blossman Gas.
JIN SUN THOMAS - At-Large
Jin Sun was born in Songran, South Korea and moved to Caribou, ME in 2005.
While in high school she was in the National Honor Society and joined the Civil
Rights Team. Jin starts at the University of Maine to study Biology, with the goal
of becoming a Dentist. Jin’s father, George Thomas, is an employee of
Northeastern Supply Company.
ASHLYN TILLERY - Propane Marketers Association of
Kansas/Beth Johnson Memorial
Ashlyn Tillery is from Valley Falls, KS and will be a junior at Washburn
University where she is studying Nursing. She also works as a CAN at a local
nursing home in Valley Falls and Meriden; she really enjoys helping take care
of the residents. Ashley's father, Bryan Tillery, works for Propane Central.
ALICIA UMLAND - Young Gassers
Alicia Umland of Harbine, NE will be starting her third year at Peru State College;
she was involved in many activities on campus, including Concert band (as Frist
Chair, tenor saxophone), The Holt Street Jazz Band, acting as Secretary within
the Peru State Education Association and the Collegiate National Honor Society.
She is a double major in elementary education and special education. Alicia’s
father, Matthew Umland, works for Farmers Cooperative.
KATRINA UMLAND - Bill and Florene Wray Memorial
Katrina Umland of Jansen, NE is a recent graduate Fairbury Jr-Sr High School
where she maintained a 3.9 GPA. This fall she starts her freshman year at
Peru State College where she will double in elementary and special education.
Katie has been an active member of 4-H, FFA and her high school music
programs. She had the lead role of “Dorothy” in the school musical “The
Wizard of Oz”. Katrina's father, Matthew Umland, is an employee of Farmers
Cooperative.
DOROTHY UNDERWOOD - Dynegy, in memory of
Elaine Ruhl
Dorothy Underwood lives in Otego, NY. Dorothy will be entering her fourth year at
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the fall, where she is majoring in architecture.
She has served as a volunteer for the Sidney Public Library, Peace Plantation,
Otego Helping Hands, and Relay for Life. Her recent trip with the School of
Architecture to study in Italy was fantastic from both an academic and cultural
perspective. Dorothy’s father, Scott Underwood, is an employee of Suburban
Propane.
JAKE WADDELL - Missouri Propane Gas Association
Jake Waddell is from Kahoka, MO. While in high school he was involved with Key
Club, National Honor Society, and Student Council. He will be starting his
sophomore year at Missouri University working toward a degree in mining
engineering with a minor in explosives engineering. Jake's father, John Waddell,
works for Heetco.

CRYSTAL WEBB - Dynegy, in memory of Elaine Ruhl
Crystal Webb is from Glen Burnie, MD. While in high school she was admitted
into five Honor societies; Academic, Theater, Spanish, Spanish, Musician and
Audio-Visual/Technical, also achieving many other awards and honors
throughout her school years. She will be attending University of Maryland,
Baltimore County where she will continue her studies in pursuit of a degree in
Environmental Science. Crystal's mother, Elena Rountree, is an employee of
Matheson TriGas.
MITCHELL WEST - Trinity Industries, Inc.
Mitchell West is from Lexington, KY and is an upcoming sophomore at the
University of Kentucky pursuing a degree in Biology. His focus on volunteer work
assists him as he works towards a goal of being elected philanthropy chair of the
Mu Iota Chapter of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. Mitchell's father, Andrew
West, is an employee of Southern States Petroleum Co-Op.
MIQUEL WHOOLEY - New Jersey Propane Gas
Association/Alvin E. Clayton
Miquel Caitlyn Whooley currently lives in Rockaway, NJ. After graduating from Gill
St. Bernard’s High School, in Pepack-Gladstone , NJ she will be attending Loyola
University Maryland in the Fall. Miquel enjoys playing basketball, lacrosse, and
running cross country. Following her passion, she will be majoring in Psychology
in college and hopes to attain her Psy. D. Her mother, Eileen Whooley is an
employee for Heritage Propane (Synergy Gas).
PAIGE WIECHMAN - Barbara Clark
Paige Wiechman is from Fremont, OH. She will be attending University of
Maine at Machias to further her goals and dreams of having a career in
natural resources so that she may contribute to conservation and increase
understanding among the public. This summer she had the opportunity to
intern for the Winous Point Marsh Conservancy and participate in a variety of
experiences. Her mother, KayAnn Cross, is an employee of O.E. Meyer
Company.

Can we tell you who will make it through to the final conference? Unfortunately not yet,
but we can tell you now that the food and drink at Charleston Beer Works will be game
pleasers. Come watch the big NFL game and enjoy traditional football appetizers
followed by a pulled pork dinner. Wash all this down with any one of 40 draft beers,
house wines, rail drinks, domestic bottle beers, tea or soft drinks. Charleston Beer Works
is within walking distance of the hotel, come and go as you need. The festivities start at
5:30pm and last until the final score on Sunday, February 3, 2013.
