QUALITY MAINTENANCE AND QUALITY INSTALLATION FOR AIR CONDITIONERS GET COMFORTABLE AND GET A REBATE OF UP TO $1,100. MORE EFFICIENCY MEANS MORE SAVINGS. TWO WAYS TO COOL DOWN. TWO WAYS TO SAVE. UP TO $720 IN REBATES* With our Quality Maintenance Program, you can lower your electric bill, improve the air quality in your home, and make sure your A/C is in top working order. There are two ways to save with this energy efficiency program: PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT Simply sign a one-year contract with a qualifying contractor and you’ll receive at least two maintenance calls within the year — a preseason cooling call and a preseason heating call. Together, these calls keep your system and energy costs running smoothly. Plus, you’re eligible for a rebate. SYSTEM OPTIMIZATION Once you sign a Preventative Maintenance Agreement, your contractor will perform a baseline assessment of your A/C system using a computer-based diagnostic platform. If this test shows your unit is operating in a “suboptimal” condition, the contractor can make improvements to your system that will improve its energy efficiency. If you need a System Optimization, you’re eligible for an additional rebate. FACT: 65% of residential air conditioning systems need repairs. SAVE THE MOST ENERGY. SAVE THE MOST MONEY. 2. Quality Installation Program Did you know that 70% of air-conditioned homes have $ A/C units that exceed the IN REBATES* home’s cooling needs? A unit too large for your home costs more to run and uses more electricity. Plus, incorrect sizing or installation puts undue stress on components and shortens equipment life. When it’s time for a new A/C system, this program makes sure your new air conditioner is sized properly for your home, and ensures its installation follows guidelines set by ENERGY STAR® — saving you the most energy and money. Plus you get a rebate of up to $1,100! An improperly installed system can actually use more electricity, run up your bill and make it work harder. Common installation problems such as low air flow, improper charge, or duct leakage can reduce the efficiency of your system. STEP 2: CONTRACTOR SELECTION Hiring a license contractor who obtains the required building permit and complies with local codes, ordinances and the requirements of the Building Energy-Efficiency Standards increases the likelihood that your system will be properly installed and will work efficiently, quietly, and safely. Licensed contractors, in general: • • • • • Have a minimum of 4 full years of experience performing the trade Have taken a law and trade exam Are required to have a Contractor’s Bond Have been the subject of a background check Are regulated by the Contractors State License Board Installers who perform contracting work without having a license have avoided these quality assurance requirements and, in addition, may be in violation of the law. STEP 3: QUALITY ASSURANCE A building permit, issued by a local authority, may be required for HVAC installations and modifications including, but not limited to, the following: • • • • • New HVAC installation HVAC change out/remodel/replacement including the air handler, coil, furnace or condenser Relocation of an existing HVAC unit Removal of an HVAC unit or system Adding ducting The installation of the equipment may be inspected by a Building Inspector who will perform a quality assurance check that may include ensuring that: • The system is installed to comply with all applicable State, County or City codes • The work specified under the permit has been performed properly • Required compliance documents have been submitted To find a participating contractor, visit ac-quality.com or call 1-800-378-7503.
