application: lift emergency phones save on installation and running costs A smarter alternative to expensive landline installations in lifts Lifts need emergency phones for those rare occasions that something goes wrong. Normally every lift emergency phone, or service engineer emergency phone, needs a dedicated line to ensure independence in cases of multiple alarms. With the high price of phone line installations and monthly charges, combined with the tendency of providers to tie users into long contracts, this can be a pricey undertaking. Not any longer. Burnside cellular terminals connect straight to most lift auto-diallers and use standard SIM cards to make calls in place of landlines. Why do this? To eliminate using expensive, and often complicated, landline installations. Additionally, with relatively low call volumes, ongoing costs are low and you need not be tied to a contract. Most of our customers report a payback of just over 6 months compared to using a landline. Even where there is already a landline, cellular can be cheaper. With the terminal in the motor room, the standard antenna generally ensures provides the required reception, but if needed, a remote antenna can easily be attached to boost reception. These are not the only benefits, as Burnside terminals come with battery backup, for up to 72 hours. This easily surpasses the EN81-28 2004 requirement for a 1 hour backup in case of power failure. With the T357 terminal comes the ability to remotely analyse, manage and control multiple terminals; even at multiple sites. This capability can help save even more time and money on your maintenance and management. Fixed Cellular Terminal (T355) This is an entry-level fixed cellular terminal ideal for low volume installations. It has a simple LED interface and low stand-by current meaning that it offers up to 72 hours standby in case of power failure. It is normally configured using a direct connection to a landline phone. Key settings can be updated remotely from a normal mobile phone. A slotted cabinet means there are no extra brackets needed to retain the terminal in its desired location. Fixed Cellular Terminal (T357)* This has all the benefits of the T355 but includes Burnside’s new Information Interchange Protocol (BIIP) that enables the terminal to be managed remotely. T355 This means that if: the power fails, the backup battery fades, a call is made, SIM credit gets low or even the temperature drops, the facilities manager can get real-time notifications. In addition to this, an estate of terminals can be completely configured or reconfigured remotely. This can be with anything from new emergency phone numbers to terminal firmware feature updates, all without moving from your desk. Fixed Cellular Terminal (T940) This is a tough fixed cellular terminal, in an aluminium housing, that also has an LCD screen for easy local set-up and call information. This terminal is normally used with the optional mounting bracket and uninterruptable power supply. These provide a robust set-up and backup battery power that exceeds the standards’ requirements. Fixed Cellular Terminal (T941) This has all the benefits of the T940 but includes an auxiliary landline connection. This means that where call volumes are higher, for example where the line is used regularly by engineers, the terminal can deliver calls via landline or cellular (mobile), dependent on call cost. T940 / T941 This terminal also has an option for voice call fallback, such that , for highly critical emergency applications the landline can be used by default and the cellular used only as a belt-and-braces backup. * Forthcoming product release.
