DEPARTMENT OF BIOTECHNOLOGY
INVITATION
The Indian Academy of Sciences (IAS), Bangalore, founded in 1943 by
Sir C. V. Raman, aims at promoting the progress and upholding the
cause of science in pure and applied branches. Its major activities
include publication of scientific journals and special volumes,
recognition of scientific talent and improvement of science education. As part of the Science Education Programmes, the Indian
Academy of Sciences, Bangalore, in association with Indian National
Science
Academy (INSA), New Delhi and The National Academy of
Sciences, India (NASI) Allahabad organizes programmes for the
improvement of science education in Universities and Colleges
throughout the Country.
The Department of Biotechnology of Christ University, Bangalore is
pleased to organize and host a two-day Lecture Workshop on Plant
Biotechnology: A Way to Future during January 27-28, 2012. This
Lecture Workshop is meant to inspire the younger generation to
undertake
research in modern and frontier areas of Plant
Biotechnology. Students and faculty of M.Sc. (Biotechnology), M.Sc.
(Plant Biotechnology), B.Sc (Life Sciences), are invited to participate
in this Lecture Workshop and reap the benefits.
2007. The Department is well
equipped with good infrastructural facilities. It offers
Bachelor‟s of Science programme in two different
combinations namely Biotechnology, Chemistry, Botany
(BCB) and Biotechnology, Chemistry, Zoology (BCZ).
A twinning MSc programme with Lille Catholic
University
on
“Sustainable
Food
Manufacturing
Management” is a new addition.
The course intends to make the students acquire
knowledge of facts, principles and form concepts in
life-sciences. The objective of this course is to develop
scientific
temper,
analytical
ability
and
social
responsibilities among the students. The principle goal
is to make the students equipped for employment in
the relevant industries.
