`` Coordinator/Senior Coordinator - Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics: Positions at Indian Institute of Science Challakere Campus at Kudapura, Chitradurga 577536 ------------------------ A new “Centre for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Education” under the Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission for Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT) sponsored by the MHRD, Govt. of India has been set up in an extension projects campus of IISc which is located at Kudapura, Challakere, Chadradurga District of Karnataka. The Objective of the Center is to train science and mathematics teachers at four levels from High Schools, PU colleges, degree colleges and universities in basic sciences Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. The training programs for High School and PU College teachers are of ten days duration, and degree college and university/PG teachers are of three weeks. This is a residential program. 30% of the time is devoted to lectures and demonstration and 70% for experiments in science and problem solving sessions for mathematics teachers. A unique feature of this training program is the learning of science by doing experiments and of mathematics by solving problems. The Institute welcomes applications from Indian nationals for positions of Coordinator/ Senior Coordinator in Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics at the “Center for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Education” at IISc Challakere Campus at Kudapura. The prospective candidates must have a Ph. D in the respective basic science subjects (Chemistry, Biology/molecular biophysics/Bio-crystallography and Mathematics) with a first class at the preceding degree or equivalent with a very good academic record, have two years post-doctoral research experience (relaxable in exceptional cases) for Coordinator position, and four years post doctoral experience for Senior Coordinator position, be preferably below 40 years of age, relaxable in exceptional cases. Consolidated remuneration will be in the range of Rs.50,000 – 125,000 depending on qualification and experience; the Institute will be the final authority in this matter. Appointments will be on annual contract renewable up to 5 years subject to satisfactory performance. Selected candidates will be responsible for coordination and conduct of the various teaching programs and workshops of the Center. Candidates will have the opportunity to pursue research.
