The year 2013-2014 has been a session of achievement for PRANABANANDA
VIDYAMANDIR. This Annual Report is part of a commitment to greater transparency and
accountability. The last few years have seen a sea change in the way the school thinks and
plans for the future. PVM has ambitious plans for the future and we need the support of
everyone who cares for the school in order to make them a reality.
We are proud to have a good number of dedicated teachers’ team, working for this temple
of learning since its inception. As the institution grew, many teachers and other staff
members have joined the PVM family to give it their best. We salute all the staff members
for their continuous support.
Essential conditions:
Our school is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) with the affiliation
number 230073. The school is under aegis of an internationally acclaimed Socio-Cultural &
Philanthropic Organization, Bharat SevashramSangha, Lumding Branch. The teacher
student ratio is 1:40. The school has adequate land with an excellent playground.

Class rooms: The school has 27 well furnished class rooms with necessary electrical
fittings and provision for various technology aided learning equipments and also 14 other
rooms for various activities.
Computer Labs


The School has 2 Computer Labs with sufficient number of computers to cater
the need of all the children.
Science Labs: Physics, Chemistry & Biology
PVM can brag of impeccable and well maintained science labs, namely, the Physics,
Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics which are mostly used by the secondary students.
These are fully equipped with every kind of modern apparatus required for the AISSE
Practical Examination as prescribed by the Central Board Secondary Education. The labs
are also well stocked with models (static and working), charts and other specimens
required for the proper understanding of the Science subjects and Computers.

Chemistry Lab
The Chemistry lab has the following facilities:
1. The laboratory has all the non-consumables required for practical up to Sr. Secondary
stage.
2. The lab is having chemical and electronic balances.
3. Gas and Water supply is provided on every working table.
4. Students from class IX-XII can use the lab.
Biology Lab
The Biology lab is well equipped with all the basic facilities for the students up to Class XII.
We have a very good collection of bottled specimens, prepared slides, stuffed materials,
charts, etc. Our lab is also enriched with microscope, PH meter, human skeleton, etc. All
these materials are arranged systematically inside the lab and are within the reach of the
students.
Mathematics Lab
Mathematics Lab provides infrastructure for transforming theory taught in class into
practical. This results in better understanding and clears the concept.
The School has an updated Mathematics Lab where children experiment, participate as
active learners. They develop problem solving ability and able to remove all fears &
phobias.
Students could put up individual puzzles relating to
1. How to divide the circle in 4 parts
2. Find your age.
3. Find percentage-using graph.
4. Subtraction with scales.
Physics Lab
The school has well equipped Physics lab, especially for the classes IX-X students. The lab
has all the necessary equipment and apparatus. The practical is done as per the schedule
planned and displayed in the lab.
Audio Visual Room
13 Audio-Visual Rooms have been introduced to improve the teaching-learning process.
Facilities for Indoor and Outdoor Games:
Indoor:
Table Tennis, Carom and Chess.
Outdoor:
Football, Kabaddi and tracks for athletic events, Kho-Kho, Hand ball, Cricket,
Badminton & other Field games.

Moreover, PVM begged Runners Up in Inter-Lumding School Level Cricket Championship &
Champions Trophy in Inter-Lumding School Level Football Championship (Boys).

Guidance Sessions, seminars and counselling sessions:

December, 2013: Two days CCE training for teachers conducted by IL and FS
Education & Technology Services Ltd. in collaboration with CBSE.
Five days training on Effective School Management & Leadership Programme,
conducted by ‘teri’ in collaboration with CBSE, attended by Principal.
September, 2013: One day ADVOCACY CUM ORIENTATION programme, conducted at
CBSE regional office, attended by two teachers.


EDUCATIONAL EXCURSION
The teachers in Pranabananda Vidyamandir, Lumding are encouraged to learn and
improve their skills to serve as effective educators. In India, Educational Tours are accepted
as an essential part of education. Every year, the school organizes Educational Tours for the
students. In the session 2013-2014, it was arranged on & from 21/10/2013 to 06/11/2013.
The Tours covered the prominent places of Mysore, Ooty, Ernakulam and Goa. It was an
exciting and rewarding journey for all – a team building experience. The Team mainly
comprised of the students of Standard Ten. The Trip highlighted some important sites like
Mysore Palace, Botanical Garden of Ooty, Tower of the Church of St. Augustine of Goa etc.
The Trip gave a welcome break to the children and teachers from their hectic schedule. It
also brings children closer to Nature and gave them the opportunity to appreciate the
glorious history and rich cultural diversities of India.
ALUMNI MEET 0N 31/12/2013
PVM always believe in building relationship and maintaining the same forever. The love &
care of the teachers in nurturing the nu the young minds always leave a lasting impression
& they never forget the school in their life. PVM counts on its alumni & thus have started
organizing Alumni Meet. A day long programme is organized on 31/12/2013 and were
attended by more than 81 alumni.
Conclusion:
In general, 2013-2014 was a great session for PVM, with continuing significant
improvements in many aspects of the school life. There has been a well-qualified and
committed staff and a diverse student’s body experiencing a distinctive and broad
programme of education. The next academic year is full of new hopes and challenges to
which PVM and its unique and ever changing students can make its distinctive contribution.
