The Fyre-Tec window is a clean, precisely designed steel Horizontal Slide,
Single Hung or Fixed Lite window, having a 3/4 hour, or optionally, 1 hour U.L.
classified rating.
Installation... Quick and Easy
Subframe and Fin mounting system kits are supplied with all
Fyre-Tec Windows
Construction
Sub Frame [1]
All Fyre-Tec window frames and inserts are constructed from galvanized roll
formed steel sections with precisely mitered and welded corners, resulting in
an exceptionally strong and long-lasting window. Muntins, when required or
desired, are notched and welded to the insert or fixed frame, becoming an
integral component lending strength to the window.
Retrofit or new construction installation may be accomplished by
prepositioning the head channel and exterior jam angles (left), inserting the
window and then entrapping it by installing the interior jamb and sill angles.
Performance Testing
All Fyre-Tec fire window frames are listed by Underwriters Laboratories under
the category of Door and Window Frames (GVTV). The standard used to
evaluate the windows is UL 9, Fire Tests of Window Assemblies, a test
standard which includes the test method described in ASTM E163, Standard
Methods of Fire Tests of Window Assemblies. All Fyre-Tec windows exceed
AAMA standards for structural pressure, air infiltration, and water resistance
infiltration. More stringent performance values are available that meet the
Florida Product Approval program. 3-part specifications and CAD drawings
are downloadable from the Fyre-Tec Internet web site.
New or Replacement Construction
Fyre-Tec windows are also ideal as replacement windows for older buildings
that are required to meet up-dated code stipulations. They are aesthetically
compatible with all types of architecture and with adjacent windows and doors
in the building. For replacement or new construction, the field-proven steel
Fire Window is Fyre-Tec.
Installation
Sub-frame mounting or fin system mounting kits are supplied with all
windows. The sub-frame mounting system is ideal for either retrofit or new
construction. The window openings may be finished out prior to the
installation of the provided sub-frame and window. The fin system is designed
to allow installation of the window into the construction framing and
subsequent trimming of the window.
Glazing
Fyre-Tec windows normally accommodate classified fire rated glazing material
that has a 3/4 hour or 1 hour fire-resistant rating. Premium glazing
materials are available to include clear, insulated, and impact safety rated
products. Glazing material is held in place with full-length roll-formed steel
snap-in retainers.
Fin System [2]
Installation in new construction may be accomplished by affixing the provided
mounting fin system in one of four positions to the window frame and then
fastening the fin and window in place to the construction framing. The fin is
then covered by subsequent rated construction material.
