Collimating Lens
• Used to focus or collimate a light beam
• Two options: 6 mm and 12.7 mm diameters
• Standard UNS 1/4’’-36 for SMA connection
• Adjustable SMA connector
The main characteristic is the ability to create a well-directed beam with a welldefined diameter, allowing therefore a uniform illumination of the sample in
study by converting a divergent beam into a parallel beam. For this to occur,
the light emitting element must be placed at the focus of the lens. On the other
side, if the incident light is already collimated the lens will work like a focusing
lens.
All of our collimators covers the UV-VIS-NIR range and have a two-part housing
of aluminium, a screw to adjust the position of the SMA connector, allowing
users to adjust the focus.

Optical filters
• Large number of options available
• Round unmounted filters for In-line Filter Holder
• Slide mounted filters to use with Sarspec’s accessories
• 12.5 mm x 3 mm round filters as standard
The optical filters available can be purchased as round unmounted filters or as
slide filters for an easy coupling.
Slide Filters are filters mounted in aluminium bars used to insert the slots
available in Sarspec’s Light Sources and Cuvette holders. This makes it very
easy to change between filters without disassembling the light sources.
Sarspec has available a large number of optical filters including :
Longpass Filters – Have low transmission in the shortwave region (blocking
band) and high transmission in the longwave region (pass band). The range
between 225 nm and 1000 nm has very steep transmission edges.
Shortpass Filters – The pass band of shortpass filters is at lower wavelengths than the blocking band. Basically they block
longer wavelengths.
Bandpass Filters – Have a transmission band or bands surrounded by blocking bands allowing only a portion of the spectrum
to pass. They are useful for high transmission in their designed spectrum while blocking other wavelengths.
Neutral Density Filters - Reduce the intensity almost equally in a specific wavelength range.

• Easy coupling with SMA905 connectors
• Compatible with standard HPLC fittings
• Standard pathlength of 10 mm
SARSPEC Flow Cells are the ideal choice for the analysis in a continuous flow system.
Fluorescence
They are available in stainless steel or PTFE according the applications, with 10 mm
pathlength and sealed sapphire windows in each of the fiber optic connectors. Our
flows cells allow two types of measurement techniques: Absorbance and Fluorescence.
For Absorbance, cells are designed in Z shape with 10 mm pathlength and for
Fluorescence the cells are designed with a 90º configuration between excitation and
emission. Both configurations are designed to provide optimum flow, maximum light
intensity and minimum bubble entrapment.
Absorbance
The robustness of this system is also granted by the use of Sapphire windows for wide
wavelength range transmission (180-5000 nm) and great resistance to mechanical
ware and harsh chemicals.
Each flow cell is delivered with the required sapphire windows, SMA connectors,
chemically resistant seals, 1/16’’ (Absorbance) or 1/8’’ (Fluorescence) O.D. tube fittings

Reflectance Standards
• For diffuse and specular reflectance
• Wavelength range from 250 to 2500 nm
• 50 mm diameter
• Anodized aluminium housing
Sarspec has available two types of reflectance standards, for diffuse and specular reflectance.
The specular reflectance type consists of a 50 mm mirror with fused
silica substrate coated with Al-MgF2 for high specular reflectivity in
a wavelength range from 250 to 2500 nm.
For diffuse reflectance all Sarspec’s standards use optical PTFE
which consists of a pure polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE) disc with
50 mm diameter. As a result of its incomparable whiteness and
purity, optical PTFE achieves virtually ideal Lambertian reflectance
properties with a reflectivity coefficient of up to 98% in a broad
wavelength range from 250 to 2500 nm.
Additional advantages when using optical PTFE is its high UV
stability, universal chemical resistance and being easily cleaned.
Sarspec offers one specular standard and three diffuse standards corresponding to reflectivities of 98%, 50% and 10%. There’s
also the possibility for customization for different sizes or reflectivities.
