Hittite Launches New Ultra Wide Band Track & Hold Amplifier Family
New Products Enhance High Speed ADC Performance
Chelmsford, MA, 05/22/2012- Hittite Microwave Corporation, the world class supplier of complete MMIC based
solutions for communication & military market has introduced a family of new Track & Hold Amplifiers (THA) that
offers microwave signal sampling with ultra wide bandwidth, excellent linearity and low noise. Enabling sampling
capability up to 18 GHz, the family is very well suited for use at the front end of high speed ADCs.
The HMC661LC4B is a single rank THA that offers precision signal sampling over 18 GHz bandwidth, with 9 to 10bit linearity at 1 Vp-p full scale level from DC to beyond 5 GHz input frequency. The part provides low noise of 1.05
mV and very low random sample jitter of typically <70 fs, which minimizes jitter induced Signal-to-Noise (S/N) ratio
degradation at microwave frequencies. The device can be clocked to 4 GS/s with minimal dynamic range loss, and
it provides DC-coupled, differential signal I/Os and differential clock inputs. All I/Os are 50 Ohm impedance for each
differential half circuit and operate at true ground-referenced common mode potential. The THA can be used to
expand the bandwidth and/or high-frequency linearity of high-speed A/D conversion and signal acquisition systems.
The HMC760LC4B is a single rank THA that offers precision signal sampling over 5 GHz bandwidth, with 9 to 10bit linearity at 1 Vp-p full scale level from DC to 5 GHz input frequency. Users will benefit from the increased
dynamic range and optimized noise level of only 0.9 mV. The HMC760LC4B provides very low random sample
jitter of typically <70 fs, and can be clocked to 4 GS/s with minimal dynamic range loss.
Both track & hold amplifiers are ideal for wideband microwave A/D conversion for radar, communications, and
electronic surveillance systems or any wideband system requiring high speed sampling. Additional applications
include test equipment and sampling scopes. Hittite’s THA products are intended for the most demanding
applications where maximum performance and high speed are required.
The HMC661LC4B and the HMC760LC4B are housed in 4 x 4 mm QFN ceramic high frequency SMT packages.
