Information about Fuchu International Salon ふちゅうこくさいこうりゅう あんない 府中国際交流 サロンのご案内 The Fuchu International Exchange Salon conducts various activities that deepen friendly ties between Japanese and non-Japanese residents who live in Fuchu City so that everyone can enjoy his/her daily life. If you have any questions or problems concerning everyday life, please feel free to ask for advice. In addition, there are multilingual publications containing information on everyday life. Please feel free to drop by anytime! ◆Japanese-Language Classes Local volunteers help foreign residents learn Japanese. Although there is no fee, it is recommended that you purchase the same textbook used by the class for your own use. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis at the Fuchu International Exchange Salon office. Participants talk about various subjects, such as shopping and everyday customs, as part of the cultural exchange. This service is intended to assist foreign children who are facing problems in the school life and are falling behind others in the classroom because they do not speak Japanese, and is intended to assist Japanese children who had lived in a foreign country. ● Providing support for coursework (learnings such as arithmetic and natural science) as well as support for studying Japanese. Giving one-on-one tutoring. ● Volunteer students from Tokyo University of Foreign Studies are assigned as tutors to help children with their studies. ● Fee: Free of charge (please bring your own textbook.) Day and time: Every Friday, 17:00 – 18:30 * Classes are closed on holidays of International Salon’s Japanese Lesson. Place: No.1 meeting room on the third floor of Fuchu City Hall Building No.2 Schedule: Semester system. (The first semester: April – July / The second semester: September – March) *A same tutor is planned to take charge of you both in the first and second semesters. However, this may be subject to change due to circumstances. Applications ① Please fill in all the necessary items on the application form at the International Salon. ② We choose a tutor (volunteer student) taking charge of you. We will let you know about the starting date as soon as your tutor is decided. *It may take a longer time to choose a tutor who can speak language of child student’s home country. ③ When a tutor is chosen, a meeting will be held among a child, guardian, a tutor, a university staff, and a Fuchu City staff. They will decide the contents of learning and textbooks in this meeting, and classes will start. Rules after the start of classes If you are late to or cannot attend a class, please inform the Salon Office accordingly as soon as possible. If you can not attend a class, please make sure to inform the Salon Office accordingly by the day before the class.
