Cross Road Nuggets Spring 2015 Volume 4 Issue 1 Fa i t h a n d Joy Aw a rd W i n n e r : M i l e t t e A d l e r Each year the staff of the Cross Road Clinics nominate a peer they believe best lives out Cross Road’s values for the Faith and Joy Award. This year, Milette Adler, CRMC’s Glennallen Front Office Manager was given the award. Usually the award is given out at the Christmas dinner, but Milette was in the Philippines on a ministry leave trip at that time. She received her clock award at the All-Staff training day Feb. 13, 2015. Milette has worked at CRMC since 2002. She shares, “I give God all the glory for how He works in and through me. I enjoy my work at CRMC and love to have the ability to share the love of Christ daily with those who come in as patients and with the CRMC staff. I appreciate the care I feel from many at work and in this community. I know that God is good!” W h a t ’s H a p p e n i n g a t t h e C R M C C l i n i c s ? CRMC is excited about celebrating the one year anniversary of service in Delta Junction The first patient was seen there on Feb 27, 2014 and the doors officially opened on March 3, 2014. The Interior Alaska Medical Clinic (IAMC) is a primary care clinic which offers urgent care during working hours. Between March 1, 2014 and February 28, 2015, 1,972 patient visits were done at the clinic. As patient numbers continue to increase, we hope to be able to add further services at that site. We currently are seeking another mid-level provider (nurse practitioner or physician assistant) for this clinic. Help us spread the word! North Country Clinic will be re-opening mid-March, if all goes as planned. Dede has been away for 5 months on Home Service, spending time with family, and recuperating after knee surgery. She is anxious to be back meeting the needs of the Grizzly Lake area and we’ll all be glad to have her back!. Glennallen’s clinic continues to be busy. Unfortunately, we are going to be saying goodbye to Dr. Doyle Yeager and his wife Laura (lab) in June. They will be returning to his practice in Indiana. We are grateful for their time of service here. If you know of a great doctor interested in helping with our healthcare ministry, please refer them to us! On the happier side, we always enjoy having nursing students and look forward to having nursing students from Biola and Cedarville joining us over the next several months. We hope to have them spend some time at the other clinics during their final weeks with us, too. At a recent strategy meeting, the CRMC board affirmed their stance that “Cross Road is a ministry that happens to do health care, not health care that happens to do ministry.” Remembering that guide, we strive to continue to look at our programs and our approach What a change! IAMC X-ray to service to try and see if we are truly serving our communities in a heart of ministry. area early 2014 and today I will be taking a temporary absence over this next quarter and Debbie Davey, CRMC HR Director will be filling in for me. There are many needs in our area. If you’re interested in volunteering some time or bringing a work group to the area, Bob will be helping coordinate needed projects. If the Sloma name sounds familiar, they are the parents of former CRMC employee Tim, maintenance director (married to Erin, RN). Bob and his wife Donna have worked with a variety of ministries over the last 16 years: Bible Centered Ministries, Ripe For Harvest World Outreach, and seven camp ministries including camps in Maine, Pennsylvania, and Nova Scotia. Bob has started working for CRMC, and he and Donna will be moving from Maine to Glennallen in April. He is planning to speak about CRMC’s ministry at several churches in the lower 48 before moving to Alaska--and perhaps some on the way. Please contact Bob if you’d like to have him speak at your church or organization--or to find out more about volunteering or bringing a work team to CRMC.
