As the only fully private maternity hospital in the UK, The Portland Hospital places emphasis on safety and choice as well as
providing a bespoke service to ensure that you and your partner are looked after throughout pregnancy and birth.
The packages below are for the delivery of your baby at The Portland Hospital and do not include any Consultant fees.
The Consultants are independent of the hospital and their fees vary accordingly.

Additional Charges
Resident Obstetric Anaesthetist service for normal, instrumental, induction or emergency C-section deliveries
For normal, instrumental or induction deliveries there is a non-refundable amount of £660 for the provision of our
24 hour consultant obstetric anaesthetic cover.
Additional nights
Women, who deliver at the Portland, often choose to stay additional nights, in a standard room this is £1,225 per
night, in a deluxe room this is £1,820 per night and in a suite this is £2,180 per night. We also have a beautiful
premier suite available with pricing on request.
Epidural for normal, instrumental, induction or emergency C-Section deliveries
Epidural (if required) is charged at £995 (plus £85 for each top up). This covers the Anaesthetist, and the relevant
drugs.
Instrumental (Ventouse and/or Forceps) Delivery
If you require a ventouse or forceps delivery a charge of £138 is applied.
Induction
If you require an induction a charge of £635 is applied. When you book with us for an induction, this will be within
the package price provided to you.

Group and save (blood group) is included at booking clinic. Any additional blood tests will be charged extra.
If you are having an elective C-Section, then you will need to pay the Consultant Anaesthetist fee directly and
not to the hospital.
All booked patients are guaranteed a standard room upon admission, if you do wish to upgrade these are
subject to availability.
All prices are effective from 1st January 2016 and are subject to change as the market dictates. Please note that
the price you will be required to pay is the price pertaining at the day of admission, not at the date of booking.
All prices are inclusive of VAT unless otherwise stated.
A deposit will be collected from you 8 weeks in advance of your estimated delivery date. You will be liable
for any additional costs incurred that are not specified in these maternity packages.
Loyalty Births at The Portland Hospital - For mothers who have previously delivered at the Portland we are
delighted to offer a 10% discount, this will be applied to all package prices and additional night stays.
PRENATAL TESTS & SCANNING
The Portland Hospital’s Obstetric Ultrasound and Fetal Medicine department offers the full range of special tests,
scans and blood sampling that your maternity care team might recommend you have. This includes non invasive
prenatal blood tests (Harmony and Panorama tests).

ANTENATAL & POSTNATAL CLASSES
The Portland Hospital offers a wide range of antenatal and postnatal classes including educational childbirth
preparation advice classes for you and your partner. We also offer exercise classes to help to maintain general
fitness and prepare your body for childbirth.

INSURED PATIENTS
Please note if your stay is covered by your private medical insurance then we are required to provide an itemised
invoice for payment. Package prices and loyalty discounts will therefore no longer apply. Please notify the Maternity
Services Advisor on 020 7390 6068 if you are covered by a private medical insurance policy prior to admission so
that we can advise regarding our billing procedure. You will be required to obtain appropriate authorisation from
your insurance company and ensure any policy shortfalls are met. Please ensure you have liaised with your
insurance company prior to delivery to include your baby’s care post delivery on your policy. Please note that
insurers will cover a standard room only. If you would like to self pay for an upgraded room please speak to our
admissions department.
