The Bachelor of Science degree with an Electrical Engineering major at CSUF requires a minimum of 130 semester units of which a maximum of 70 semester units can be from the community colleges. Students may not elect CR/NC graded coursework to satisfy major, major G.E., or major additional requirements unless the course has been designated CR/NC only. If there are lower division requirements which FCC does not offer, they must be taken after transfer to CSUF. If there is a “break” in your attendance, you will be required to fulfill current CSUF catalog requirements. Consult the CSUF catalog for complete degree requirements. Contact your counselor if you have questions. 2. Electrical engineers design and develop electronic circuits, equipment and systems in the areas of electromagnetics (antennas; radar, radio, and television systems), communications (telephone systems, satellite communications; laser and optical fiber communications; aircraft and missile guidance systems), computers and digital systems (computers, microprocessors, and microcomputers; artificial intelligence), physical electronics and optics (transistors; integrated circuits; optical display devices; lasers; optical fibers), power systems and energy conversion (electric power generation; analysis and synthesis of power transmission and distribution protection systems design; on-line power control protection systems design), and control systems (computer control, robotics, automated manufacturing, intelligent sensors). 3. Engineering majors are exempt from GE Area A3, third course Area C and Area E. 4. PHYS 4B at FCC is NOT comparable to PHYS 4B at CSUF. To satisfy the PHYS 4B, 4BL and 4C sequence at CSUF, both PHYS 4B and 4C must be completed at a single institution. 5. +See the CSUF catalog for additional selections. 6. The ECE Department will use ENGR 8 as a substitute for the ME 29 requirement and ENGR 10 as a substitute for the ECE 1 requirement. Lower Division corresponds to freshman and sophomore years of college. The same course, e.g. SWAHLI 1/AFRAM 21, can be counted only once. 3. Student will need to check with the electrical engineering advisor for selection of additional GE courses at CSUF. 4. Do not use the non-engineering CSU General Education pattern. Take only the specific general education courses as listed above. CSU FRESNO ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS The California State University requires a total of 60 transferable units for admission, including at least 30 units of general education requirements. All of General Education Area A & B4 must be completed for a letter grade; C or higher for transfer. Students must obtain the CSU General Education requirement sheet so that they can plan their transfer program (both major and GE requirements) at FCC appropriately. A request for certification should be made when requesting final transcripts upon transfer. See a counselor regularly for assistance as you plan to meet transfer requirements.
