PARTNERS Electrical workshops and a newly established electrical laboratory enables the team to deliver an interactive and practical element to all aspects of the electrical curriculum. I currently study Electrical Engineering at Edinburgh College. I am one of two girls on my course. Being a girl in engineering is no different as you are treated equally by the staff and students. I was quite hesitant at the start of my course but it was really easy to make friends. I would encourage any girl thinking about going into engineering to do it. BRODIE ARMSTRONG | HND ELECTRICAL 01 Edinburgh College Electrical Engineering 02 ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING NC ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING WITH SKILLS FOR WORK (ENERGY) Edinburgh College runs an NC Electrical Engineering with Skills for Work (Energy) course within electrical engineering which attracts sponsorship from ScottishPower. Students receive £200 a month from ScottishPower on top of their bursary payment. Students attend college for 34 weeks and spend five weeks over two terms at ScottishPower’s training facility at Cumbernauld. Here they are continually assessed for attendance, attitude and attainment, and dependant on business needs, the overall top performing students could be offered apprenticeships with ScottishPower. Last year was the second year of the course running and five students successfully moved onto apprenticeships with ScottishPower. SCOTTISH POWER The ScottishPower sponsored Engineering Foundation Programme is one of the many ways we are investing in young people.
