My name is Catie Furnish and I’m the Vice President for Public Relations for the year of 2013! This year is the 125th anniversary for Delta Delta Delta and our Delta Rho chapter wants to make the most of it by doing whatever we can to best represent Tri Delta! This is the first of a monthly newsletter that has been created to keep alumni informed of what is going on in the chapter and to showcase the great ways that our Delta Rho chapter is excelling in the classroom, on campus, and in many other ways throughout the city of Lexington. Each issue will include a monthly calendar of upcoming events so that each member can keep track of what is going on in our chapter. In order for us, as a chapter, to get to know one another better, there will be a section titled, “Deltas of the Month” which will include a Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior pledge class member, chosen randomly, with a short bio describing them. This will also serve as a way for the alums to get to know girls in our chapter better and get a better understanding of what some of our members are involved in, other than Delta Delta Delta. This newsletter will also spotlight one Tri Delt alum in order to understand how being a member of Delta Delta Delta has affected them in their life and influenced what they are doing today. Also, starting this month, we will be having a “PR Challenge of the Month” which will be a tip, or encouragement for our active members to somehow get better involved within the chapter, and on campus as well. These will be printed off as flyers and will be seen hanging around the House. This is also a good way to keep each other, as sisters, accountable to be the best Delta sister that we can be for the year of 2013. One last thing that will be included in each newsletter is a Photo Gallery of pictures from events going on within our Chapter. We hope this is a great way for alumni to stay connected to what our chapter is doing. Since this is the first newsletter for the Spring, it will include pictures from the previous Fall Semester, with a focus on Bid Day and Sisterhood Retreat photos. As this is the first edition of this newsletter, our PR team is open to any suggestions that you might have to make this even more successful. Any suggestions can be sent to Catherine.furnish@uky.edu. I hope this Newsletter serves as a way for all members to stay connected with the latest happenings in the Delta Rho chapter! Delta Love, Catie Furnish

Senior: Grisel Vilchez
About Me: I was raised in the small town of Danville, KY, and even though I like the hospitality of the south, I'm in love
with the energy of the Windy City and everything it has to offer. I enjoy learning about the law, because it is what has
created fairness and justice in our society, if used correctly. That is the particular reason I'm majoring in political science
and sociology. To top everything off, I also enjoy beauty and fashion, especially if it is avant-garde because innovation is
always fun!
Favorite ΔΔΔ Memory: I dressed up as Samara from The Ring and frightened an already graduated delta dearly...I
then recreated all the omens from the movie for an entire week with help from other girls! While on the subject of pranks, there was also another time
when I was driving around with a bunch of girls and we decided to play the game of "get in the car, but before you open the door I drive off so you
end up chasing the car"...well...I ended up running over the girl's foot.
Junior: Maggie MacNeil
About Me: I am from right here in Lexington and am majoring in integrated strategic communications with a minor in
psychology. One of my favorite places to eat on campus is Jimmy Johns, because I really like sandwiches! I also enjoy running
at the arboretum and love UK basketball season!
Favorite ΔΔΔ Memory: I transferred here my sophomore year and I would have to say my favorite memory was
recruitment when I first came to uk. I didn't know many people, but everyone was so welcoming and it was the perfect way to
meet all of the tridelts!!
Sophomore: Sarah Davis
About Me: I’m from Hurricane, WV and am currently studying Linguistics & Speech Pathology. Along with being a
member of Tri Delta, I am also a member of the UK Dance Team. I enjoy staying involved on campus as well as in the Big
Blue Nation. My favorite place to eat on campus would have to be Mellow Mushroom or Great Bagel, my favorite place to
get coffee and study would have to be Coffea, and I love going on runs at the arboretum!
Favorite ΔΔΔ Memory: My favorite Tri Delta memory would have to be Bid Day my freshman year. I will never forget
walking up onto the lawn and seeing all of my new sisters holding dolphin balloons and chanting, " I am a T, I am a TR.." I felt right at home!
Freshman: Lauren Childs
About Me: I was born and raised right here in Lexington, Kentucky and am so happy to finally get to be a part of the Big Blue
Nation. I’m a nursing major and although I have only been a part of Delta Delta Delta for one semester, but I have already made
so many memories. Favorite ΔΔΔ Memory: My favorite Tri Delta memory so far would have to be Big-Little reveal. It was so much fun going on
a scavenger hunt to find out who she was. I have always wanted an older sister and will never forget how excited I was to finally
have one, especially one as awesome as Lauren! My very favorite place to eat on campus is definitely Raising Canes, and I am
pretty sure after last semester the workers now know me by name.
Alumni Spotlight

Kristin Holt
> Kristin is from Lawrenceburg, KY and graduated from UK majoring in Intergrated Strategic Communications with an emphasis in creative advertising and a minor in Psychology. > Right now I am working in Louisville as a graphic designer for Crossings
ministries. I also have an Etsy business called SevenKnots where I sell graphic design artwork that I have made. I also just started selling Mary Kay cosmetics! > How did Tri Delt influence your life?
Without Tridelt I wouldn't have made such amazing friends, nor would I have developed the confidence and leadership skills that have helped me be successful post college. I don't think that I would have enjoyed my experience at UK nearly as much if I hadn't been in Tridelt and built the relationships that I did through the sorority. > My Favorite ΔΔΔ
Memory is definitely winning Greek Sing 3 years in a row including the year that I got to be Greek Sing Chair. It was so much fun and a great bonding experience. I got to know all of the girls in the chapter a lot better through that experience. Another favorite memory was living in the Tridelt house for 3 years and getting to share so many fun times with friends.
>Fun Facts About Me: Favorite restaurant: Tomo...I love their sushi! Favorite thing to do in Lexington: Keeneland I also always loved going to festivals and events downtown like Thursday Night Live! Love going to Legends games during baseball season. Also love going to any UK sporting event (mostly basketball) January’s PR
Challenge
