Application
Depending on the sheet type, the BDK Duo Flex Double Sheet
Metal Sensor with integral evaluation electronics is suitable for
measurement of sheet thicknesses between 0.1 and 10 mm.
This cost-effective solution, covering almost all types of sheetmetal processing including "white goods", convinces above all
with its easy operability.

The separate mounting of transmitter and receiver unit (with
connecting lead) allows a quick and easy integration into the
system. Moving or stationary double sheets and even large
air gaps in surfaces with stud or rib texture are, for example,
reliably detected.
Operating principle
BDK Duo Flex consists of a transmitter module and a separate
receiver unit with integral evaluation electronics. The
transmitter generates an electromagnetic alternating field
evaluated by the receiver. The sheet to be measured between
transmitter and receiver must completely cover the sensor’s
active sensing face and extend at least 38 mm around it on all
sides. The minimum distance between transmitter or receiver
and sheet surface is 10 mm. When mounting, the active
sensing faces must be concentric and set at a fixed distance
of 50 mm between transmitter and receiver modules.
An M12 connector allows to connect power supply, status and
controlling signals and analogue output. The result of the
detected number of sheets (0, 1, 2) is available at two
semiconductors (K0 and K1). There are three LEDs for visual
monitoring, indicating also simple calibration steps that are to
take to evaluate the parameters of the sheet to be measured.
The calibration parameters are stored in a non-volatile
memory (EEPROM) so that they are available even after a
power failure.
There are two further versions with non-linear, analogue
current or voltage outputs used for example for threshold
value monitoring in a post-connected Programmable Logic
Controller (PLC).
