ENERGY STAR
The federal government establishes minimum performance requirements for energy efficiency in lighting and
other consumer products. Buying ENERGY STAR labeled products ensures that you are making an environmentally

TITLE 24
California Energy Commission has adopted and periodically updated the Standards (codified in Title 24, Part 6 of
the California Code of Regulations) to ensure that building construction, system design, and installation achieve
energy-efficiency and preserve outdoor and indoor environmental quality. The standards establish a minimum
level of building energy-efficiency. NICOR products carrying the T24 mark have been certified to meet these

UL LISTED
UL is a world leader in product safety testing and certification. For more than 100 years, manufacturers have
had their merchandise evaluated and tested for safety risks by an independent, third-party safety certification
organization. Last year alone, approximately 14 billion products with the UL Mark entered the global marketplace.

UL CLASSIFIED
There are multiple variations of marks for UL’s Classification service, some of which are used in the United States,
others used in Canada, and still others used in both. Products carrying marks for Canada have been evaluated

CEC
The California Energy Commission staff worked with technical experts, utilities, and industry to determine the
level of performance necessary to achieve a lighting product that would meet or exceed customer expectations
for lighting, with a particular focus on homes because the majority of incandescent light bulbs are used in the
residential sector. The California Specification represents the Energy Commission staff’s minimum requirements for
an LED light to be considered “California Quality.” More information can be found at www.energy.ca.gov
WET LOCATION
These products can be used in wet locations, both indoor and outdoor. A wet location is an interior or exterior
location in which water or other liquids may drip, splash, or flow on or against the electrical components of a lighting
fixture or ceiling fan. Outdoor Wet Locations include open-air decks and patios, uncovered porches, outdoor dining
areas, exterior walls, gazebos, pergolas, and walkways. Indoor Wet Locations include shower enclosures.
DAMP LOCATION
These products are approved for use in interior locations protected from weather but subject to moderate
degrees of moisture, such as some basements, some barns, and some cold storage warehouses.
