Floral and enticing on the nose. Fleshy

Chardonnay Orangerie 2014
Vignobles Lorgeril
Rich and tasty, unoaked but just a hint of
the New World. Grapefruit, lemon and a
hint of hazelnut.
Based on the ancient principles of ‘terroir’ and
‘tradition’, Old World wine is sourced from the
historic producers of Central and Southern Europe.
Long evolving processes and local geography hold the key to producing quality wine for Old World
vintners. Centuries of production has allowed the Europeans to adapt to their surroundings and produce
distinctive and much celebrated varieties. Pruning, irrigation, yeast type and the use of oak are all factors
that have been monitored, recorded, and in most cases regulated to ensure local consistency.
This means that despite the ‘Old World’ collective, European traditions differ greatly
- even within national borders

Verdelho Potts’ Catch 2011
New World wines are produced away from Europe’s
historic regions, and were established by colonial
Europeans longing for a taste of home.
The first ‘new’ wines appeared in Spanish South America in the 1600’s, a trend echoed in the British
Australia and South Africa. The Spanish soon pushed winemaking northwards to California, while the British
began production in New Zealand - ‘New World’ boundaries that remain to this day.
South Australia crisp white with a
strong perfume featuring pear and
pineapple. Performs well above price.
Riesling 2009 Alkoomi Frankland River
A truly great example of a New World
Riesling. Delicate lime fruit, with a
gentle mineral undertone. Delicious.
Would last for 8+ years.
New World wines now compete at the highest level - even if European makers might argue that their
passion trumps the New World ‘terroir’ of science and considered blends. We’ll let you be the judge.
