UWS webCampus Quiz/Exam Tips for Students Before Taking a Quiz/Exam in webCampus (Moodle) 1. It is recommended that students use a recent version of Firefox (Windows or Mac), Chrome (Windows or Mac), or Internet Explorer (Windows). 2. To minimize the risk of losing test data due to being “timed-out” of, or losing, your internet connection, we recommend that you use a high-speed internet connection, avoid using a wireless connection, and know if there are time-out restrictions on your internet connection. 3. Close all other programs you may have open on your computer. This includes any music or videos you might have running in the background, email or chat programs, word processing programs, or other web browsers. Running other applications may lead to data loss while taking a test in Moodle. 4. If your test has a time limit, be certain you have enough time to complete it without interruption before you begin. If it does not have a time limit, you will be able to save your answers and return to the test. After Launching the Quiz/Exam 1. Unless it’s required for the exam, do not open other windows or programs. 2. Your answers are automatically saved as you enter them. 3. Your exam may have multiple pages. If so, you will see a Quiz Navigation block on each page. Click on a question number or on Next to see more questions/pages. Your answers are automatically saved as you enter them. Do not use the back arrow in your browser to return to a previous page—you can lose your answers! There will also be a clock if your test is being timed that will count down the time remaining. 4. The Flag question option allows you to note an item which you would like to reconsider before submitting your responses. 5. Be careful when using a mouse with a scroll wheel. Click in a blank area on the screen before using the scroll wheel to prevent inadvertently changing a response on the exam. 6. Review your answers and be sure that you have answered all questions before clicking on the Submit all and finish button. Once your exam has been submitted, you will not be able to modify any answers. After Submitting the Quiz/Exam 1. Your exam submission should generate a confirmation message. If you see a test page with no answers selected, use your browser’s “back” button to return to your test and resubmit. 2. If the exam allows multiple attempts, be sure to log out of webCampus and exit the browser between attempts. Reopen your browser to log back into webCampus for your next attempt. 3. If you receive an error message, note the message (exact wording!), along with the date and time, and describe the steps taken preceding the error. Report the error message and circumstances to the UWS Help Desk (itsupport@uws.edu or 1-855-489-7932) for troubleshooting. When reporting errors, please provide as many details as possible, including course name, test name, question number, browser, and operating system. At the same time, notify your instructor of the problem and request further instructions.
