Lecture: Introduction to Thai History
(Sukhothai Period) –known as being the first
capital of Thailand between 1238 and 1351,
the city has now been designated a
UNESCO World Heritage site.

Lecture: Introduction to Thai History (Thon Buri & Rattankosin) – the
shortest era only lasting 15 years after the destruction of Ayuthaya
by the Burmese and later on merged into Bangkok

Fieldtrip: Chiang Mai Museum – following the first two sessions
introducing the Sukhothai Period and Ayuthaya period, students
will have the opportunity to visit and learn with a guide tour of
the museum

Assessment – students will be require to complete a multiple choice
test with essay style questions for their final assessment of the
Introduction to Thai History module

History (Ayuthaya Period) – the
second capital of Thailand
between 1351 – 1767 which is
located 90kms north of the
present capital Bangkok

Lecture: Overview to Thailand and ASEAN Economic Community
(AEC) - this lesson will focus on the integration of Thailand into
AEC and its contribution towards the economy, plus a general
overview of each country and its impact towards the AEC

Fieldtrip: Company Visit – students will have the opportunity to visit
a local manufacturing company in the Lumphun Industrial Estate.

Lecture: Law and regulations on trade between Thailand and AEC –
this session will cover most of the pertinent issues surrounding
the trade regulations between Thailand and AEC

Fieldtrip: Doi Suthep and Phuping Palace – students will venture to
the highest temple in Chiang Mai by navigating the 300 steps to the
summit afterwards students will visit the Royal retreat of His
Majesty the King of Thailand

migrant workers has been a topic under debate in Thailand
especially migrants from Myanmar – this issue will look at the law
and the movement of people to and from Thailand

Lecture: Regional agreements and Thailand – looking specifically at
free trade agreements and regional trade agreements between
Thailand

Lecture: Introduction to Thai Dancing – this introductory session aims
at looking at the different classical dances vs folk style dances.
Students will also have the opportunity to participate in some
traditional dances

Lecture: Thai Lanna Dancing – hands on session which gives students
the opportunity to learn more about the Northern style dance as well
as trying authentic costumes
