This covers transport to and from the destination, accommodation and possibly some activities. It does not cover: - Any meals and drinks - Transport to/from the airport/transport station - Items of a personal nature - Optional extra activities which may not be included in the itinerary Additional information Optional International Educational Trip on Advanced Travel Courses Estimated extra cost of NZD$1,000.00. This cost includes flights ex Auckland, Christchurch or Wellington, accommodation, airport transfers, hotel inspections, and possible sightseeing depending on destination. The cost estimated above excludes departure taxes, meals, insurance and domestic fares within New Zealand if the international departure is outside of the region in which the course is located. Due to Government regulations any overseas field trip cannot be paid for using a student loan or allowance. Students will need to raise finance for these trips themselves. The cost of any personal spending money depends on where you go and the activities you choose to experience. We would recommend you have at least NZD$50.00 – NZD$100.00 per day. Additional course information Additional course information covering recognition of prior learning, assessment procedures, academic policies etc. can be found by either requesting a copy of the student handbook from the campus or by downloading it from the website. http://www.travelcareers.co.nz/downloads.aspx Entry Requirements To be considered for a course at Travel Careers & Training you must meet the following minimum requirements: - All Courses Must be at least 17 years of age Have satisfied the pre-requisite requirements for the course you are applying for as shown under each individual course listed above Have successfully passed the TCT entry test and interview Preferential placements may be given during periods of high demand to applicants who have NCEA level 2, are in Year 13 at secondary school and have held a position of leadership. Additional requirements for Diploma Level Courses Domestic students must have completed the National Certificates in Travel L3 & 4 or an equivalent qualification. - Additional requirements for Certificate Level Courses Have a minimum credits of NCEA Level 2 (60 credits) plus NCEA Level 1 (20 credits) OR equivalent unit standards, course of study or work experience deemed equivalent Provisional entry may be granted to applicants for any course who do not meet the above criteria but present evidence of ability to succeed (e.g. maturity, life experience, work experience, other study) and are able to show that they are well prepared to study the programme. This will be at the discretion of the Campus Manager. Course Content Sir George Seymour and Travel Careers & Training Ltd reserves the right to alter a course if deemed necessary and is not liable to any student if contracted services cannot be provided for any reason such as withdrawal of agreement from airlines, political unrest in a country, strikes, price increases from suppliers etc. There is no refund for any part of the course not provided or undertaken for whatever reason. Certain criteria must be reached before students can go on the field trips, work experience, and completing Level 4. Failu re to reach these criteria will result in students unable to participate with no refund owing. If students are absent from class a medical certificate is required in order for you to make up the class with another group. Joining another group will not be possible however, if you are absent when your educational is on or if you had failed to meet the criteria. If you would like to pay your student fees by student loan, we can assist with this Student Loans and Allowances Sir George Seymour and Travel Careers & Training Ltd (operating as Travel Careers & Training) is a registered NZQA (New Zealand Qualifications Authority) Private Training Establishment. Students who are New Zealand citizens or have been a permanent resident for more than 3 years can access student loans, course related costs and living costs or allowances. Trust Account All money received from you will be deposited in to a trust account until course commencement. This is as per the legislative requirement Section 236A of the Education Act 1989. The money is withdrawn in stages as the course is completed. Liquidation In the event of Sir George Seymour and Travel Careers & Training Ltd going into liquidation the Directors have personally guaranteed a refund for the unused portion of the course for which the student has paid. If students wish they would be given any remaining units by distance learning that the company have developed. This may allow students to complete the course from home. Sir George Seymour and Travel Careers & Training Ltd. will actively try and place students with other providers and negotiate a reduced cost for the balance of any training. Withdrawal and Refund Policies and Procedures Once confirmed on your course, if you wish to withdraw you must put this in writing and either post it in or hand it in to the office. The cancellation fees are as follows: After enrolment but on or within the 8th day of the course starting, 10% or $500.00 whichever is the lesser amount after eight days - full course fee, no refund applicable. We reserve the right to cancel training courses due to insufficient demand, unavailability of suitable training staff or facilities or similar major problems. In all cases if you are enrolled on the cancelled course you will be offered alternative training dates or a full refund. Complaints Procedures If you have a complaint it should be taken in the first instance to your Class Tutor or the Campus Manager, for discussion. It will be discussed with you and the various options available and if necessary discuss any other parties involved in an attempt to solve it. If the complaint is unable to be resolved satisfactorily then it can be taken to the General Manager. For students who have already completed some of the unit standards included in the course there are some their options available to you. Not all training establishments have this as their policy however, so you may not be able to transfer your credits from us to another training establishment. Facilities, equipment and staffing Travel Careers & Training have campuses in Wellington, Christchurch, Auckland Airport Area and Auckland City. At times, part or the entire course might be facilitated at our ‘sister campus’ Sir George Seymour College. If this is the case, students are required to make their own way to this location. In all three cities, the sister campus is centrally located in the city. Please check with your Sales Executive for the exact address. The training rooms in all campuses are modern, and roomy. With small classes you are assured of personal attention and assistance. Tutors are qualified in the travel and tourism industry with many years of experience. Auckland campus - Airport Located in the Auckland Airport Business Park on Leonard Issit Drive, the campus is a ten -minute walk to the domestic and international terminals and a one-minute walk to food outlets, a supermarket and accommodation providers. This campus holds both the 747 and the 737 cabin trainer which all flight attending students train on (students from the Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland City Campus will travel to this facility as a part of their course). Auckland campus - City Located in the heart of the city, this campus is situated right on Queen Street and is a 5 minute walk to the Viaduct or Britomart Precinct. The campus is close to many shopping, transportation and accommodation options. Wellington campus Located in the Grand Arcade Tower, Willis Street means we are located right in the heart of Wellington’s premium shopping and business district. We are close to the beautiful waterfront area as well as dining, transportation, and accommodation options. Christchurch campus The Christchurch Campus has a fantastic location on the 1st floor of our building in Colombo Street. We are within walking distance to Hagley Park and the public library, as well as a selection of restaurants, cafes and bars.
